Minix Neo A2 Batteries only last two days.

I have owned my Minix Neo A2 Lite for two years and it performed very well until it started depleting its batteries within in a couple of days.
I am using brand new AAA batteries from a reputable manufacturer but they go flat within two days. I have found if I remove the batteries after using the remote and reinsert them when I want to use it the batteries last a lot longer. It would appear that there is a permanent internal drain on the batteries. I would be pleased if any member could advise what may be wrong. Thank you.

Hey & welcome Hobartian,

Please provide confirmation as to whether you own the A2 or A2 Lite, there are some differences between the two models ;)!!

Have you tried the remote re-pairing procedure?
https://theminixforum.com/index.php?threads/neo-a2-lite-re-pairing-remote-and-usb-receiver.125/

When did the sudden rapid depletion begin? Had you installed any new apps or made any system changes for example? Or, did it begin after a recent app update? (It may help to review any changes you have possibly made in case it is related.) It may also be worth just going through your Google/system apps such as the Play Store, the main Google app, etc. & just clear their caches too.

It's also possible an app or process is somehow essentially wake locking your remote by behaving incorrectly or from corruption. See how you go with the above or any suggestions/solutions others may also have too. Fingers crossed someone has seen this before or on the old forum who may have a specific solution :).

Let us know & keep us apprised :).

For my experience and if you have new batteries it is not normal even with extreme use.

Try again with other new batteries.

Hello
I had the same problem with A3 and minix sent me another replacement remote control and I found that the problem is not in the remote control but in the usb receiver.

Thank you for your responses. I can confirm that my remote is the A2 Lite.

I have followed the suggestion to email the Minix support Team and I will report the outcome.

I received this advice from the Minix support team:-

Unfortunately, we do not have a solution available to improve the battery
life of MINIX NEO A2 Lite.

Please send me a copy of the invoice/receipt, so I can verify whether it is
still within its warranty period.

At this point, I have not been able to find my purchase receipt so I am continuing to remove a battery when I am not using the remote.

Just to make sure, the Caps Lock and the FN red leds are left off, meaning you turn them off or they turn off on their own after aprox 20 seconds, when you stop using the remote. (FN led is visible as you see it lighting the led on the side of the Power button, but Caps Lock is hidding in the tiny hole to the left of the Caps Lock key). When the box is powered off both leds automatically turn off as well.

Also, instead of removing the batteries you might wish to try to just remove the dongle out from the USB socket and see how it goes.

A very far option would be, if you can get hold of a phone with camera, other than Iphone, point the camera to the red plastic top (where the IR is sent) and watch in the phone screen if the IR lights are on when no button is pressed (photo bellow), which would be a malfunction, but as I said this is a very "remote" possibility.

@Hobartian i suggest that you buy rechargeable batteries 1000mah AAA two pairs only for A2 Lite.I had similar problem with reputable manufacturer like Duracell.Rechargeable batteries wiil improve batterie life 15-20 days. They are not expensive and i don't think that's the problem with dongle.Just try and report back.
