Minix Neo u1 - Blue LED on but no signal

-To update firmware you only need (in your minix) otg cable connected to your PC, nothing more and i advice you to do that.

-Once you sucessufully updated your device connect the rest: power cable, hdmi cable, etc and then test.
Very interesting!! Thank you! I will try that!

Thank you for the reply. I tried two different cables, both are data cables.

The cable you need is a Micro USB cable:

And you have to check the length of the smaller socket in your cable. It must be the longer one. (That is why it is advised in the instructions to use the one originally provided with the Minix box):

I am not sure where my minix cable is. I have like 5 micro USB cables but all seem to have the short length socket. I will make a mission to find a longer socket one. Crazy how little things like that can throw one off ? I really appreciate your guidance! Will give an update after my new mission completion.

@Flipside101 you could cut away a small amount of the plastic around the micro USB tip.
See video in next post.

But as I've said many times in the Forum, I've never had any problem with a shorter tip!

So I have found the original MINIX cable. It still gives the same issue. I plugged it in but even after importing the file, nothing happens.

Now that you've found the original OTG cable I'd strongly advise following the official MINIX guide for reflashing the firmware!!

MINIX clearly state that the power adapter is required.

Guide here if you needed to refresh your memory :). https://theminixforum.com/index.php?threads/neo-u1-install-the-firmware-with-the-burning-tool.177/

I realized that we need in some devices the power cable to flash, not all devices need power cable to flash.

Now, normaly i use always power cable connected.

Yes, I get that mate (the X39 being an example of a device which doesn't require an additional power cable to flash), but in an earlier post in this thread you advised Flipside that he only needed the OTG cable ;)!!

This might be why his PC won't see the U1, (it also might not, but it's best he follows MINIX's procedure for the best chance of success) :).

Yes you are right. My mistake.

From now on i am going to say - you need power cable ☺

I said because it is easier to flash but i was wrong in that device .

So I even updated the burnning tool to the latest version. The box has the blue light showing, but after the tool looks for an image, it goes back to normal screen with nothing happening. Doesn't look like it's picking up the box. ? I love this box but it seems there might be a deeper issue.

It does like you have tried everything but this is the advice i always give

make sure the "world cup" driver installed when you installed the Burning Tool, if not uninstall and reinstall, ( if your not sure then uninstall and reinstall anyway and you should get a prompt to install the world cup drivers )

remove any other usb devices and the hdmi cable before trying

make sure that the power is off on the minix ( by removing the power plug, wait 30 secs, plug in the usb cable to minix and pc, and then plug back in the power cable ) and then press and hold the power button for a few seconds or so ( 6-10ish) until you get the connection.

try different combinations of usb cables and USB2.0 ports...it can be problematic to get a connection

and make sure you have no "security" software that may be blocking the connection
and of course make sure you are using the right firmware image for your device

as i mentioned it can be problematic to get a connection but try at least a few times as just as you are about to give up and torn all your hair out it connects !!

Hi guys, I thought I should give an update after all the help I have received from you guys. I have managed to sort the issue and like I thought, it was a simple solution. The initial problem ended up being the adapter. I lost my original one and then found a generic one with the same specifications. Although it seemed like the specifications were the same, it wasn't up to the task and only after I found the original one, did the box work again. I am a bit embaressed but I couldn't have guessed the generic adapter was the issue. I am truly grateful for everyone taking time to try and help me. I have learned alot in the process and it's for that reason I am convinced Minix boxes are the best. Once again, thank you to all for the help. Big up!

No need to be embaressed. We are always learning and we all make mistakes, distracted, etc.
We are humans.
Glad to know is all working good :)
