Mark Watched Videos

Hello

Till recently my XBMC used to mark a "tick mark" at the end of the file to indicate that it has been seen. There was some problem with Minix and I had to factory reset it. After that though I have done most of the settings in XBMC I don't seem to get the tick mark back again. Any help on this please?

Thanks

No. But in that case what videos I habe seen now should stay getting marked. I think so.
No, assuming you factory reset your minix then you would have to had installed a fresh kodi install and hence you lose all your tick marks. If you had made a "kodi" backup and restored that then your tick marks would also have been restored.

Its always a good idea to create a kodi backup of a good working system >> https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Backup

All videos which have been seen are marked in XBMC database. There's no change in the file itself.

if i remember it also depends on the skin you use. I use the Amber skin for xbmc 16.3 and it has a option under skin settings to hide the marked icons

As I understand it @Parambir's issue is that now nothing is getting marked as watched!
This happened to me and I gave up trying to work out how to make it happen.

was this with "local" video files in your media libary or from external streamed files from an addon ?

watched status information is stored in the MyVideosxx.db file...this may have been corrupted..all i can think off ( where xx is a number dependant on kodi version)

@Parambir

which minix device are you using...if U1 or U9 then suggest you unistall xbmc and install Kodi 17.6

you could also try deleting in your current version MyVideosxx.db through Kodi's file manager ...you will find the file by navigating to
Profile Directory > Database . Highlight MyVideosxx.db and use your mouse to get the Context Menu popup and delete the file.

Then reboot your xmbc and a new MyVideosxx.db will be created.

I pulled my hair out trying to get this resolved too, it has to do with the container refresh not being triggered somehow. As a work around I mapped the "Q" on the back of my A2 Lite remote to force container refresh, I know you have the A2 Lite too so give it a bash.

Create a new notepad and name it gen.txt, copy the following code and paste it into gen.txt:

<keymap><global><keyboard><key id="61521">container.refresh</key></keyboard></global></keymap>

Save then rename it from gen.txt to gen.xml, copy it into: org.xbmc.kodi\files\.kodi\userdata\keymaps

Restart Kodi and after watching something press the "Q" to force container refresh and the tick appears.

Now, if you wanted to choose a different key or you have a different remote then it gets a bit more involved, you will need to install the official Kodi Keymap Addon, found in the official Kodi Repo under programs, run through any option until you are asked to press a key, press the key of your choice and take a note of the number that is displayed, edit the gen.xml accordingly, back out of the Keymap Addon by choosing Cancel to avoid any changes to your setup.

Again, restart Kodi for the changes to take effect.

Interesting...so are you saying that after a movie or show is watched that the database is being updated to reflect its watched status, but the view listing does not get updated to reflect the fact unless you do a forced container refresh ?

would you have to do this every time ??

Yes, nail on the head and yes I have to do it every time, not ideal but not a deal breaker for me.

I haven't been using Kodi for some time but thanks and I will give it a try when I can.

Stock Kodi 17.6 from the playstore, no skins.
wow..thats a weird problem then......no idea why it should happen ..... i've always side loaded kodi from the kodi.tv download pages but shouldnt think its different from the playstore version apart from perhaps looking for updates as i dont use a google account on the minix....also I use the Aura skin ( a great skin btw )

maybe you could try a kodi fork such as WBMC and see if that exhibits the same issue ( maybe even try a kodi backup from your existing kodi setup on it)
