No you need a computer to upgrade to Android 7.
Perhaps you can ask a friend to flash your Minix (5 mn to go).

Please don't post the same question in multipe threads.

Hi again.

I was a little too quick to be glad that the sound was working, after a while, 5-10 minutes so it quieted without me doing anything.

Started playing an HD movie in Kodi 18.5, after 5 minutes the sound came suddenly, and worked until I restarted Minix, no sound after reboot.

Since I get audio with previous firmware, I suspect something is not right in this version, or that it is compatibility problem with my TV (LG Oled55c7v).

I just encountered this today when I installed an LG TV-
no problems previously with this firmware on a different TV;
and no problems with the TV audio settings when I connect my windows box on same hdmi input

Like @Datore at one point I thought it was working as suddenly had sound - I didnt play long enough to see how long it remained but a restart lost it again

Set digital sound setting to pcm and the tv setting to same; also tried bitstream on tv, still nothing

I can't even say when I first found it working that it was related to any setting I made in either tv or box

Did those of you with this problem ever find a solution to this?
Settings that work consistently?
Or give up?

This is probably an issue you'll need to be patient for any potential fixes, (or other reported issues for that matter). I have the same issue as @BachAudio using a Sony STR-DN1080 AVR which completely loses the display with the FW001 CE ROM while other AVR's seem unaffected. Whereas all previous CE betas/RCs were fine. My point being, some devices will remain affected regardless of which settings are adjusted I'm afraid.

(I have an extra device for testing but that's obviously just not an option for the vast majority.) Ergo, unless there's one or more specific reasons why you needed 7.1.2, would advise you roll back to the stock ROM (FW008) until such times as the guys have had the opportunity to debug & evaluate potential causes.

Please remember, the guys put a lot of effort into these ROMs in their free time & this isn't the only project that requires their attention as well :). I'm not singling any one individual out either, it's a reminder for all members reporting such issues ;)!!

Of course - I wasn't demanding an instant fix - just asking the other community members who had seen this if they ever found a work-around.

Searching around the net, it appears to be a common issue with Android 7 and LG TV's (i.e. I don't believe this is unique to this specific ROM)- I got a couple of ideas I will try today, to see if can make it workable.

There might be a clue here - https://github.com/ayufan-pine64/android-7.1/issues/5

p.s. This is really weird tried everything & could not get sound - without changing any settings i happened to click on a video link in web page and sound started playing, swooshes from mouse presses etc; launched a media stream and all was well; after tried a power off/on of tv & it was gone again, with nothing to re-enable {incl trying launching that same link}
there is something weird about the handshake between the minix with this rom & the LG TV

No worries :).

Google Chrome updating has been known to cause some funky issues in the stock ROM, typically causing a green screen but other problems have been reported too. Try reverting Chrome back to the version installed by default with the ROM. It may help, it may not, certainly worth trying, however. (Don't forget to uncheck auto updates for Chrome in the Play Store before you proceed.)

Have you tried different HDMI inputs on your TV? It varies by manufacturer/model but HDMI 1 & 2, for example, often have greater capabilities than HDMI 3 & 4. If you happen to have an HDMI splitter lying around, try that too ;).

You may need to get creative with troubleshooting & testing if the usual culprits aren't a factor ;).

Have installed the new rom yesterday sucessfully and all looks good however I can't connect my wifi as the wifi setup page won't alow me to type my password. I reinstalled the rom again today ok but problem still exists. :-( I can't get the cursor to go to the keyboard so I can type in password.
Any thoughts?

Im not sure but if you have an airmouse try clicking into the password box, failing that you might try connecting an external mouse and keyboard.
I kinda recall this being a bit tricky !!

I have two Minix remote controllers, one has a keyboard at the back of it, the other is smaller and just has the basics.

Just to add note, I tried my notebook mouse with a usb bluethooth and cursor worked great now have wifi setup. thank you pusb87.

I gave up on trying to make the LG TV hmdi audio work
I purchased a (used) soundbar over the weekend as a workaround - have the hdmi from the minix to the TV and the Optical output from the Minix to the soundbar - this config functions perfectly (I did not try pass through from TV back to the soundbar, as I suspected it would not work, since the audio not getting to the TV most of the time anyway)
Interestingly when I first hooked it up, I had hdmi minix to soundbar and hdmi soundbar to TV - and the TV speaker worked instantly! So I suspect it may be possible to use a low cost hdmi switch to potentially achieve the same thing.

Thanks guys for all the effort in creating this firmware, I've been very pleased!

I installed the ROM two days ago and everything has been running smoothly. Nougat fixed a problem with one video streaming app that wasn’t working anymore with Android 6. Only had a small issue with internet disconnecting after 5 minutes of use but the problem was eventually my router and the connection works well over WiFi after I disconnect the RJ45 cable.

One question regarding rooting. I had successfully rooted my previous Marshmallow version with these instructions posted on the forum.

Could someone please educate me why this IMG-file doesn’t work with the 7.1.2 firmware and what is the reason? Also is there any workaround that one could try to explore to root this firmware by himself?

The reason I ask is that I would need the root access to be able to use ExpressVPN and AdGuard (local proxy auto mode) at the same time. And also for a few other things.
