I am not satisfied with the non-official firmware

I think that Minix should make the effort to launch an official update closer to the current android version, xiaomi in its tv box that cites a third part goes in version 9.0

I'm not satisfied that you couldn't even be bothered to look up the fact that an official SDK doesn't actually exist to update the U9-H nearer to Android 9!!!

I also think some people truly should "make the effort" to use Google for something other than searching for cat videos or porn once in a while as well, (not that I'd hold my breath waiting) ;).

Want Android 9? Buy a MINIX U22 :)!!

I think that a device that they still sell and that comparatively with others on the market is not cheap should have the possibility of being updated, it is an excellent device but even Apple allowed until recently to update the third generation. If you can't update more, take it out of the market

You never did say why you need/want a newer version of Android..... what App/Apps or functions are not working for you?

@manoloruiz
Here on the forum (for U9H) are available only official versions.

If you are not happy with something on the CE ROM (for example) you can reflash the device to previous firmware.

Let us know what are not working for you and in the correct thread/section.

And you are talking about newer firnware you have :
T5 (android TV) or U22-XJ (standard android , but not released yet)

Why remove a device from the marketplace altogether when they're still selling well with a proven track record & a high degree of popularity?

The fact that the U9-H has a relatively dated OS is hardly grounds to remove it from the market. From a business standpoint alone such a decision would make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

(We're not talking about the latest mobile devices here!! We're talking about a proven media hub that works very well indeed with its present OS.)

You describe NEO U9-H as an excellent device, so I don't see your logic.
Since our very first media hub, we've always stated that our priority is stability and performance rather than chasing Android OS numbers.

Our media hubs are in a unique product category, which uses an operating system that is primarily intended for a different product - smartphones.
This means a new Android OS version isn't as relevant to us as a smartphone manufacturer because Google designs each new Android OS in order to improve the smartphone experience and add features specific to smartphones, which do not benefit our products as much. Honestly, I don't think the average user notices much difference after an Android OS upgrade apart from a U.I design change.

NEO U9-H is promoted and sold as a media hub, which it continues to excel at. It contines to serve the purpose why the majority of people bought it. It doesn't need any new smartphone intended bells and whistles to improve the home entertainment experience it delivers already.

Xiaomi Mi Box is running Android TV OS, we have our own Android TV OS model - NEO T5 - that is also running Android 9.0 Pie TV.
Yes, it is a newer Android version, so that makes some people happy but Android TV OS is a more limited operating system, which doesn't make some people happy. Rarely in life can you please everyone, or make someone 100% satisfied.

In terms of Apple, it's important to remember the years of iOS upgrades you receive is factored into the product's SRP and iOS devices are premium priced products. Our media hubs are far cheaper than the majority of Android smartphones, let alone iPhones. The level and length of support our products receive is far beyond the industry average, and in my opinion represents great value for money.

Thank you very much I hope my application has not been misinterpreted. I am satisfied with your response and I insist it is a powerful device.

If the OP is unhappy he could perhaps try running a different OS, such as CoreELEC. It is currently at 9.2.1, which was released Nov 29, 2019. CoreELEC is Linux (not android) based.

If interested, the OP can read this thread on CoreELEC.

"I am not satisfied with the non-official firmware"

Then use official!;)
Dare I say the official struggles to work properly never has never will it seems (due to the developers not finishing the job of getting fundamental bugs out)

Perhaps you could remind us what the fundamental bugs are with the U9-H and FW008 as mine runs extremely well ?
