FOTA does not install X-plore. It does put the apk in preinstall apps in the system directory though!

If you want to use X-plore you can install it from the Play Store.

Or, providing you have updated via FOTA to FW003, using ES File Explorer go to Device/system/preinstall
Many thanks Villa. Learn every day?

I recently received a U22-XJ and it came FW002 out of the box.

I would recommend updating to FW003 immediately. The device functions so much better!

Even if you decide to wait, you will have to update to FW003 and then to FW004 as FOTA updates are consecutive unless MINIX provide a FOTA zip file.
Great. Will do as soon ad I get it. Thank you.

I manage to install the new firmware but there is some issues. I place widgets on to the TOP row screen and the Widgets disappeared after every reboot or shutdown. I think is a bug. I install nova launcher but can’t place the widgets onto the screen so I get the widgets from the recent screen. The widgets inside the grouping folder I not able to move the widgets around within the grouping folder, it just stuck there like a glue. Thanks.

it gives an error with using the burning tool
Do not despair, be patient, try to stitch again. I only succeeded on my third attempt. The first attempt failed by 22%, the second by 34%. The third attempt was successful, the firmware was installed in less than 4 minutes.

I followed the instructions from the PDF in post #1 to the letter, and successfully flashed v003 on first try.
Oh, and I did use the X8H Plus PSU to do so by the way, and tested in the other room using the U1 PSU (which is exactly the same as the X8H).
Thanks!

Very pleased with the box, and when compared to other vendors, support here is simply outstanding.

The FOTA went smoothly, but 2 or maybe 3 bugs.

1. If you set the root switch, it works perfectly with all my apps requiring root. However, after a reboot, even though the root switch shows as in the on position, root has been turned off. Simply toggling the root switch off and then on resolves the problem.

2. In launcher 3, you lose the top row of widgets after a reboot. Not a huge deal here, but annoying.

3. I did not run benchmarks, unfortunately, when I got the box this morning. I went straight to the update. I ran the latest Antutu and got a disappointing 115505 score. Geekbench 4 single core was 1211, and multi 3427. I get better than these on my other s922x boxes, so I am wondering what happened to the CPU performance boost? Is there a switch to turn it on or something?

I would recommend that you set Dolby Vision as disabled, and SDR to HDR set to off as defaults. They do weird things to the picture on some big sets, and take some experimenting to see what the issue is when they come set to on ss default.

I will say again I am very happy I bought this box.

Picture quality is exceptional. Side by side with my 2015 Shield Pro is no contest. The picture is much more vibrant with the Minix.

Yes same here, thanks for reporting it.

I have queried this with Minix and await a reply as I have not seen a difference in my Antutu scores between the old firmware and the update.

As has been said, you lose the top row of widgets in Launcher 3 after a reboot. I have been using ADW Launcher on my other boxes with earth/moon live wallpaper. It is almost identical to Launcher 3, and I am happy to report it has been working flawlessly on the Minix this far. Widgets stay put.

The CEC works, if you turn on the set-top box, then the TV turns on and Vice versa turns off, but if you turn on the TV, the set-top box does not respond.

Got the box this morning. Downloaded FW003 with absolutely no issues. Numerous problems with VPN not working and using wifi, VPN worked no problem. But turning wifi off does not revert automatically to Ethernet. Went into Network settings....no ethernet and nowhere to activate it.

Anyway do not want to go into all he details just yet and am awaiting a response from MInix on this and a few other issues.....like, why when I turn my box back on has it reverted to FW002. So tried to update it to FVW 003 again and just received an error message after trying to install.

FWI That issue is known on FW002 and is fixed on FW003.

Cant say why yours appears to be reverting back to FW002 and after updating to FW003.

I would suggest factory reset from the recovery menu and try again.

Many thanks . Still awaiting response from Minix

When I said I was awaiting a reply from Minix, it was not a criticism.
It was in reply to a member who was trying to help me with an answer to my issue. I was just thanking him and happy to wait for Minix to reply, rather than do a factory reset.

Unfortunately there seems to be an issue affecting some devices such as AVRs or set top boxes etc., whereupon the U22 blocks these other devices from communicating with each other & TV's over HDMI.

The only workaround we know of at this point is to disconnect the U22's HDMI, (powering it off at the mains unfortunately isn't enough).

Are you talking about it physically fitting the slot, or virtually Dak? (Just checking lol ;).)

Try inserting the card the opposite way up to your U9-H if you mean physically. (Can't remember if both devices have the slots the same way up off the top of my head.)
