KAR ha dado en el clavo. Debes configurar a SPDIF y utilizar la conexión óptica de Minix

It does work over Hdmi just make sure if that what you have connected to minix box that it's set as hdmi in the audio settings.

Hello everyone.

I'm new to this forum.

I've had a Minix u1 for about 4 years, and I successfully output sounds through the spdif port.

However, I am not getting 5.1 sound. My Denon receiver is not recognising a aac5.1 video I play using the media player.

Somebody has mentioned to configure the sound in expert mode. What is expert mode? If I go to settings, and the to audio, all I see in Digital Sounds is to configure auto, pcm, hdmi and spdif. That's all.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thanks a lot.

expert mode is for the Kodi settings, highlight the current mode and you can toggle through to expert

Hi guys, thanks a lot for your quick responses.

Yes, I'm using the Kodi that came installed (XBMC for Minix version 15.3).

Right, I finally got to the Kodi settings (going to Apps>Open Kodi).

I have enabled passthrough, and now I can get AC3 on local video files, but unfortunately not on Amazon Prime Video for example. I'm guessing that is because that app does not allow it.

Do you guys know if there's any way to get AC3 with Amazon Prime Video (and other streaming platforms too)?

Thanks!

It is my belief that spdif can only transfer 2 channel pcm. You should consider connecting the box to the receiver with HDMI in order to get the digital signal properly recognised.

The U1 is perfectly capable of multichannel 5.1 sound using passthrough ( on Kodi) via spdif for AAC, AC3, DD and DTS
. Other dependancies will be on the media app being used, the AVR and of course the source.

Are you running Amazing Prime as the app itself or are you using some Amazon Prime plugin in Kodi?

SPDIF can carry:
2 channels PCM (uncompressed)
5.1 compressed signal (AC3, E_AC3 and DTS)

Amazon Prime is currently offering AC3 or E_AC3 depending on the source so you should get what you want using SPDIF if the Amazon App you're using offers it
