NEO U22-XJ: 005FW (20200826) - Bugtracker [OTA Now Available]

It still blocks my devices... I cannot use my Soundbar until I don't turn on the MINIX. As long as it's connected to the setup via HDMI it messes up my whole setup.

Obviously with an issue still clearly being present some users could be affected worse than others, some less so.

Somethinng still isn't right at all as the U22 is still continuing to block all CEC between my other devices & the AVR or TV in my case, such as stopping my TV remote being able to control the volume of my AVR or controlling Kodi on my U9-H as a couple of examples. (Remove the U22 again & problem solved but it's a bit of a pain in the backside to keep doing that to say the least so I understand your frustration.)

Hopefully @Marty will keep track of these bugs again as with the previous bug tracker threads & add CEC/ARC not fixed to the list accordingly :).

(P.S. @Marty, can we simply add the known issues to the first post please? Just edit the first post in a way that it clearly lists & separates them from the change list?)

None of the .KL tweaks recommended after 004 to make airmice works and external keyboards were implemented. So Upgrading to 005 wiped all my .KL tweaks. And since I lost root in the process I can no longer 1) restore my TWRP backup 1) Redo the darn .KL changes. Which I didn't note so I don`t recall what I had to do to fix the OK buttons, ENTER, and DPAD things.

Looks like not many of the good guys who worked on the U9H were still involved with the U22. In the Airmouse nightmare thread, it is recommended to go back to previous version of Firefox. LoL, which I did but its useless as well since I can't confirm the anything with OK on the Airmouse or ENTER on the keyboard. Sigh.

As I have already said you do not need root for TWRP, you have ignored this and seem more intent on complaining rather than accepting help:
https://theminixforum.com/index.php...ous-without-losing-everything.3277/post-26976
I didn't ignore. I replied I don't boot from SD Card. As my limited understanding thought I would have to format the SD card in a way unreadable from my PC afterward. And because Minix didn't implement High Speed on SD, I want to keep the option to move data at decent speed from my PC instead of the 15-20Mb/s CAP from the box.

Then you have clearly got some other problem as well I've never encountered that issue using the A2 Lite remote.

Is audio passthrough supposed to work in this fw? Does not work for me for most formats in Kodi

If your hardware supports it, passthrough should function normally & as expected with DTS (lossy), & DD/DD+ (AC3/e-AC3 respectively).

AAC remains a bit of a grey area, (although technically AAC doesn't use passthrough as it's decoded on the U22 itself first & streamed as PCM), but some still aren't able to successfully stream pre-decoded multichannel AAC audio to their external hardware & it downmixes AAC audio to stereo only instead.

The HD audio formats remain unsupported for passthrough with Android at this time, i.e. TrueHD or DTS:X/DTS-HD MA. Amlogic themselves are required to address this particular issue with the SoC rather than anything MINIX can presently do about it their end.

Keep an eye on the forum for news of future updates, an announcement will no doubt be made when a firmware update is issued to address this particular problem.

(If you're experiencing problems with passthrough & the lossy SD audio formats, then please be more specific, & provide additional details/information.)

given the above your best option for Kodi on the U22 is to use Coreelec, where all audio formats mentioned above work OK .
Best I think to install Corelec on SD card and if you wish to use android simply pop the card out and reboot.

no idea, CEC is a pain in the *ss so I disable it on everything possible :D
Well i always have CEC disable, tried first one time (on other device...), did not work, so since then i never use :).
I Agree with you.

I Agree with you.

It was working absolutely fine with U1 for me in fact I loved to control everything with only one remote including turn on/off, Kodi functions on Minix and everything. That's why I miss it more than others probably. I got used to it so easily.

I can see the attraction but just to much hard work to set up for me :ROFLMAO:

Great, this box is a bloody paper weight as I have no interest in using CoreElec, need a android box with working HD passthrough! Dual booting CoreElec, yep I tried that but talk about slow & laggy running from an external usb flash drive, even if I wanted to use that the lag was so annoying.

Oh well, my own felt for not doing research on this product before purchasing, still I wonder why Minix have even bothered to add dts hd & truehd to the audio settings when neither actually works and by the sounds of it never will as I've just found a post on the kodi forums dated just over a year ago taking about the s922 and hd audio passthrough not working on android. A year on & still not supported.

Time to box up the U22 & go back to the U9 until I can find something better.

Then i suggest trying a different flash drive or install on an SD card.
I can discern a noticable speed increase in Coreelec over Android

For me the only thing that this update did is to remove root.
Where is the root method that you mentioned?
Luckily I didn't purchased the second box.

Hallo,
I confim CEC problems with my TV. I had an old X8H with CEC working very well with My panasonic TV (it was happily fixed in last firmwares, while at the beginning it was not so reliable).
Now with U22 after some times CEC stop working, until reboot. I noticed CEC stop working especially after resume from suspend, which is automatically issued turning off television.
Someone with the same problems?
Thank you

Yes,. same/similar ongoing CEC/ARC issues with my TV & AVR too, & sometimes interference with other HDMI devices connected to the AVR as well. At least one other user also reported no change to their CEC/ARC problem earlier in this thread too if you read through the posts.

The only sure remedy for the time being is to pull the HDMI or leave the U22 powered on but unfortunately the latter is also no guarantee at the moment either.

Someone said amlogic need to fix the HD audio passthrough issues, that's not what I've been reading on various websites & forums, looks like all Minix need to do is add IEC61937 audio support to their android firmware, do they not know this?

For whatever reason amlogic left it out of the android 9 sdk, possibly just forgot to add it according to a well known member over on the kodi forums, considering it was included in android 8.1 & below, why remove it now, or they did just forget to include it but from all I've been researching adding IEC61937 support will sort this issue.

At the very least Minix need to contact amlogic about the missing IEC61937 from the android pie kernel, I find it hard to believe the they would cripple their latest s922 soc in this way intentionally.

This is something I expect to have to deal with on cheap no name android tv boxes, not expensive Minix hardware!
