Hi all. So for some reason my ethernet says not connected when I plugjin the ethernet cable. I know its jot the connection or the ethernet cable as it works perfectly on my minix u1 which is sat next to it. It doesn't seem to recognise the connection. The WiFi works on it fine but I want the ethernet for the speed. Any suggestions from anyone?

I think you need to turn off the wifi for ethernet to work

If you also happen to be using a VPN then ethernet won't connect!! (Not sure why that particular issue has never been fixed either as it's been present since the device was released??)

Thanks it is the vpn issue. So annoying because now I can't use my vpn over ethernet which means streaming is too slow via WiFi. Thanks for letting me know. :(

Yes, regretably a fundamental failing that Minix have failed to address in over a year since release (n):(

My Neo t5 is working fine using ethernet and VPN so I think it's an issue of your specific device.
Then you are the only one to have reported that it works ??
Please advise your VPN provider and how you are activating the VPN

I'm using several free VPN providers such as TouchVPN and vpnify. My Neo t5 is always connected via ethernet and when I want a VPN connection I just start the app of one of the mentioned providers and make the connection. After that I start i.e. Kodi and it works without any problems.

what encryption protocol do those apps use ?
i suspect that they use the nowadays far less secure PPTP and perhaps it is OpenVPN that causes the disconnects with the T5.

Caution......there is no such thing as a free lunch ;)

I have no idea what encryption protocol they use. It may be less secure and that is why I switch often from VPN provider.

switching wont help you in the slightest, in fact it probably puts you at more risk with these free vpns.

I also tried paid VPN providers on my Neo T5 but that was not successful due to the loss of speed (80% loss or more). That's why I use the "free" ones with only 10% loss of speed. Better some protection then no protection at all. And, up till now already 4 years without any issues (also with my old TV Box).

Then Im happy for you :)
