Hello!

What is the best and easiest way to update kodi on the minix box?

Didnt find any way to update from inside kodi. Do I need to remove old kodi and install new one from google play?

You can just update it from the Google Play store. No need to remove your old Kodi version, it will be updated and your settings will be saved.

There is a kodi addon from kodi's repository called Kodi Android Installer ( its a program addon)
No need for any google play palava

Yeah the most stable version is Kodi 17.6 Krypton stay away from the Kodi Leica RC2 there no passthrough option in the audio settings to get premium sound stick with kodi 17.6 running well on my U9 with all the DD+ DTS and DTS-HD and also TrueHD and streams 4K like a charm

I'm also using Kodi v17.6 Krypton with audio passthrough setting is enabled.
Still wondering why DTS/Dolby sound is lag/choked up/not smooth when plying with Kodi.
If I play outside Kodi, the sound is OK, smooth.

@dabonz: may I know your video & audio settings in Kodi?
thanks.

Sorry just seeing this text from you .. if you go to system settings I hope no and then click from standard mode to expert you see everything there change to 5.1 then to best match from optimization then noble passthrough and enable all the sound options see then you will get premium sound with you’re amp

Dunno what you mean about video settings but on you’re device on abroad settings u can change you’re resolution to what you’re TV is cable of having and leave HDR on auto

Hope this helps

Hi, Thanks for reply..
I'm already using expert mode and set the audio setting like you mention (channel mode to 5.1, set to best match, and enable all type audio passthrough). but, I don't know, the movie sound for DTS, Dolby 5.1 is still lag/not smooth.
try also change the audio setting in minix (like DRC mode to OFF, DTS Drcscale --> SOUND0, Digital Sounds --> Auto detection), still no luck :(

how about "output device" in your kodi audio setting? is it "android, audiotrack" and disabled (grey out) ?
thanks.

Gimme thirty minutes I’ll fire up kodi and let you know ..question are you getting DD orcDD+ or DTS on you’re amp ? Just you’re sound is lagging u might want to check you’re internal player settings and make sure both option are enabled but let me check first

Leave everything has is in audio settings with 5.1 and passthrough enable with all the premium sound enabled go to you’re settings gear go to player make sure u have enabled allow hardware acceleration-media codec ( surface ) and below it also make sure it’s enabled

Has for the Neo U9-H in audio settings Dolby Sounds DRC mode line I have off and DTS Sounds I have 0% and Digital sound I have PCM dunno if i should have it on HDMI but I have it PCM and Devices Manager I have Input auto and output auto

I’m getting DTS and DTS-HD and TrueHD Dolby +sound in kodi

PS Digital Sounds I have it on auto and with that on auto I’m getting HDMI passthrough so much m getting Dolby TrueHD Dolby Surround and sing along its Dolby TrueHD

Hope you can get it to work ..watching a 4K movie on supremacy in HDR and sounds great with my home theatre system

I would suggest the following settings which work fine for me

you may also wish to add this advancedsettings.xml, reboot minix after applying all new settings

I concur with pusb87
These settings work for me also and please note "number of channels = 2" This is not a mistake it is the correct setting. Stuttering with DTS is resolved with these settings. I have upgraded to the latest Kodi RC and all my HD sound is working perfectly DTS-MA, Dolby True

@dabonz, @pusb87: thanks alot..
I've already tried all possible settings, but still no luck, even when my Kodi automatically upgraded to v18 Leia (forgot to turn off auto-update). Next try maybe I want to re-install Kodi from beginning, clear all data...

Is your AVR connection optical/SPDIF (TOSLINK) or HDMI alone?

If HDMI alone you may need slightly different settings than those used by @pusb87, (his are ideal for optical SPDIF).

Let us know which method you're AVR is using & will post up some alternative settings to try :). If that still fails, roll back to 17.6 anyway.
