Some things you can do:

- use another usb burning tool and default usb burning tool configuration
Instructions here:
https://theminixforum.com/index.php...-firmware-installation-instructions-pdf.1249/
- uninstall all windows programs you don´t use
- temporarily disable your firewall/anti-virus
- turn off your internet connection when flash the device
- test with another windows PC or another windows Version (example : if you can not flash the device with windows 10, try windows 7).
- use original OTG cable that come with the box
- use another PC USB port

Community Edition ROM for NEO U9-H - Android 7.1.2 Nougat

Dear forum members,

We are the Minixforum Dev Team, an independent group (users like you) that don't work for Minix.
We have built this ROM in our own spare time but in strong collaboration with MINIX and we really want to thanks them for their support.

We think that the actual version of the Community Edition Nougat Firmware for U9-H is stable enough for daily use.
We have put our best efforts to try to build a stable system... we hope that you will be happy with our ROM.

Please don't complain about things not working as you like and don't ask Minix for support on those ROMs.

The Minixforum Dev Team
Gufone & KAR & rmestrum

Firmware installation instructions are attached to this post.

[MINIX NEO U9-H manual firmware installation process is the same as NEO U1]

What should the configuration be set to? I have no boxes checked.

Quick update, managed to flash as i suspected lead was faulty ordered one off ebay and flashed with 6 first then 7.12 running stable no issues so far, thanks everyone for thier replies, i always believe never give up and you will succeed.

I'm having issues with some apps on the Android 6 Firmware, so I am desperately trying to update to this Android 7 firmware. I have tried 3 PCs and several cables, but the USB Burning Tool NEVER recognizes the U9-H. The cables seem to be fine, though, as when I boot the Minix normally, it appears in Windows and I can browse the folder structure and copy files.

How can I get the USB Burning Tool to find the device? Or is there any other method of flashing the firmware? I've seen that it should be possible with a USB stick, but can't find a downloadable version with this firmware.

Now tried "Burn Card Maker" with the image file, to create an SD card and use that for the update. The SD cards gets created ok and the Minix starts from it, says "updating" and then stops after the progress bar is at maybe 10%, showing an Android icon with a red X (see attached).
Great, now the box is bricked and doesn't start up anymore at all. How can I get out of this?

Hard reset and connect to pc and flash, I had an issue with my cable and kept crashing after few Percent new cable off eBay and went from bricked Minix box to working box. I also disabled anti virus and switched off internet during update.

After the 7.1.2 update, Dolby audio is not working.
I have connected optical to AVR, actally it worked in the earlier version
Any suggestion?
Hi Kumarsiva, I am also experiencing the same problem with Dolby Audio with this FW. I have found that if you set the MINIX Sound option for Dolby Sounds to either RF or Line, the audio works, but it doesn't work all the time so you have to change the setting back to the previous one each time.
ie. If you have it set to Line and there's no audio, change it to RF and try again and there will be audio and vice versa. Very tedious.

It's for this reason that I am reverting back to the v6 FW008 as it doesn't have this issue.

Jason

*** Update ***
I have decided to try the the other v7.1.2 OS (Non-Community Edition) instead, and have found that all the previous issues experienced with Dolby Audio are no longer present. The version I am now using is U9H_Android7.1_FW001_20180814, but I don't seem to be able find a working download link for it. Maybe it's still on Facebook or somebody else knows where to download it.

I can confirm the following:
  1. Audio Passthrough via ARC works great on 2 x Onkyo's I have tested with. TX-NR809 and TX-RZ3100
  2. Dolby Digital and Dolby Atmos work great
  3. DTS, DTS-HD MA and DTS-X also work great
  4. I am getting great results using the latest Kodi v19.1 Matrix version as it has had some specific updates related to 4k HDR and refresh rate switching and Dolby Vision I believe
  5. It goes to sleep mode quickly and can wake up quickly
  6. Any Network issues when the device wakes up from Sleep Mode can be resolved by disabling Ethernet/Wifi from the Settings menu and then re-enabling

One final note: This ROM is not perfect but it is more than suitable for my requirements and I thank the developer(s) of this ROM for their efforts and great work.

Will somebody that have the 20180814 firmware post it back here so that we can try both.. just a suggestion..

Is it absolutely necessary to clear cache after flashing? What are the downsides of not clearing cache? thanks

Edit: Also, is there a changelog available?

I'm not being flippant, but did you actually read posts #1 and #2 right at the beginning of this thread?

(It tells you why it's best with the actual instruction to clear the cache all in the same sentence :). https://theminixforum.com/index.php...nity-edition-nougat-firmware.2107/#post-14460 .)

A change log also implies an update or actual changes from a previous version. This is version FW001 of the CE ROM which to date is the first & only unofficial public release to the various official MINIX firmware versions, for example. (Also explained in post #1 at the start of this thread :).)

There are also many other questions regarding this particular firmware release already asked & answered under this thread as well :).

That sounds a tad flippant to me!

Anyway, I did in fact read post 1 and it says "- Please do a clean install and clean the cache to avoid problems with the previous beta or FW. "

Which brings be to my question, what kind of problems can occur? I haven't cleared cache, it seems to be working fine so far. What am I needing to avoid?

Just go ahead and clear the cache. It won't harm to do so! ;)
