Hello,

We received this error when booting this morning; any suggestions on how to fix? we have tried rebooting....
This is a NEO N42C-4 Plus... Windows 10 Professional

Thank you

Boot up Error 27 May 2021.jpg

In the BIOS, There is no option to choose Windows Boot Manager in the Boot Option Priorities.
Only options are: Built-in EFI Shell, IPv4 and Ipv6 network, and disable.

I have sent email to Minix.com.hk and Minix.us
Spoke with Minix.US ppl... They said to try contacting Minix.com.hk again...
I purchased it from "The Minix Store" on Amazon. I am beginning to get frustrated over the lack of technical\customer support.
I have about 15 on these. I use them in my company that I work for. I was planning on purchasing more for an upcoming project, but now I am not so sure that would be a good idea... This is the first issue I have had since I purchased these. I am hoping that I do not start having issues..
5 of these are less than a year old.

Please help.

that's clear. so, you need to put the windows disk image to stick with MEDIA CREATION TOOL from microsoft (google it). After copying this ISO into stick you can enter in BIOS and select the stick to bootoing. you haven't system boot on SSD. After installing WINDOWS, you need boot normaly on WINDOS BOOT MANAGER :)

There is no SSD drive in this computer. I am creating a Media Creation ISO on a USB thumb drive right now. When I am finished... I should plug it into the computer and go to the BIOs and set the computer to boot from the thumb drive...then (unless I am misunderstanding you) it will install on the computer somewhere and be fine???

can you take a picture of the MINIX open? do you really not have an SSD in it? by default is a NAND with 32Gb storage... the second SSD is an M.2 SSD 128Gb. Purchased separately. you need a SSD in this computer :)

let's see my SDD :)) 2 pieces of SSD in my miniiixxx! with Windows 11 Proooo :)))

The Plus comes with 64GB eMMC memory with the option to expand with a M.2 2280 SSD.

I was advised to download the Windows ISO from Minix and put it on a thumbdrive.
When I attempted to install it, I received this error.
(Note, this is supposed to have eMMC storage)

If you have access to a working N42C-4 you could clone that system disk to a USB drive using a utility like Macrium Reflect then reboot your ' faulty' system from the USB (select the USB from BIOS by pressing Del on restart)). When booted, check system drives to find out if you can see the eMMC (if not then you have a faulty system). If you can see the eMMC then you should be able to see whether it is actually configured as a system disk - if not then clone the USB disk to the eMMC, change the BIOS boot source to the eMMC on restart and it should boot. If it still won't boot from the eMMC then the hardware is faulty and you should get a replacement under warranty. Get back to me if you need more detailed instructions or perhaps someone else has a more efficient method which they might post.

I had a similar issue after trying many avenues I unplugged the small battery servicing the system board by easing out the small white plastic plug from the socket attached to the system board left it for a minute plugged it back in and it started up.. So ensure its not connected to the power supple then ease the circuit board off the small alignment posts careful not to disturb the wi-fi antenna fine wiring, turn it over to reveal the battery in question... once done, reassembled, plug it in turn on and maybe it will be back up and running... worth a try ... it did work for me.

Thank you for this! It seems to have (sort of) solved my problem. With the battery removed, I can boot to the SSD - once. The next time I boot, it seems to forget about the SSD and wants to boot from the eMMC again. If I disconnect power (not just power off - but unplug) it boots from the SSD again - once... Rinse and repeat...

If I go into the BIOS after the first boot, it sees the SSD, but never gives me the option to select it in the boot order. It does see the Windows Boot Manager on the eMMC, but that's my issue in the first place.

Any ideas what might be causing this? I had initially assumed my SSD had died, but it tested fine when I pulled it out and tested it via an M.2 USB adapter. Once I get the PC to recognize the SSD, it's fine. I can work around this for a little while, but definitely an annoyance. Unit has been fine up until now.

What is your BIOS (Project Version) version?

Looks like APL0B108.

I have not done any bios updates (unless Windows did something automatically) that I'm aware of. Machine has been running fine for a year or more.
