What do the colors of the LED light stand for?

The LED light in the front of the NEO Z83-4 box has 4 different color indication.

Blue: The power adapter supplies power to the motherboard (PCBA) normally.

Yellow: In a hibernation mode or sleep mode.

Red: The voltage outputs by the power adapter is not right.
The standard power adapter that comes with the box outputs 12V/3A.

Green: The motherboard (PCBA) goes wrong, or in a fault state.

Hi, my led light is flashing in green. I press reset botton and while I am pressing it the green light stops flashing but still in green. Nothing happens. Another try I keep pressing on/off botton and after 10sec pc turns down. I press turn on and the green light keeps flashing. How can I fix that?

Thanks

As stated in the first post & subsequent posts, a green light indicates a fault with the PCBA for which there is not an end user fix.

You'll probably need to return the unit. FAO @Minix - Martin or @MINIX - John , anything further?

So I left mine running today for a while and, when I came back to it, the red LED was on. I've tried 2 other power supplies with it (including a known good 6-8A regulated bench PSU) and all I get is the red LED and it won't turn on. :(

@Haitch, the device should work with a power adapter that output 12V/3A.
6-8A is obviously an overload to the device, so the LED light glow RED.

Says someone who obviously knows nothing about electricity ?. You cannot overload a device with too much current supply it will only draw what it needs. In actual fact it only uses <1amp most of the time so on your thinking the provided unit would cause a problem. It is over voltage that could cause damage the fact that the one I mentioned is regulated means it cannot do that. Anyone who knows what they’re talking about care to chime in?
PS the provided unit and another two give the same problem so I doubt it is actually the PSU.

Yes, I know very little about electricity:p, what I know is that electricity is decided both by voltage and resistance, that is I=U/R.
In the device, R (or resistance) is fixed, and if the current is detected as 6-8A, I would think the U (voltage) is too large.
The recommended voltage range for Z83-4 is 11V - 13.6V.
If I got anything wrong here, please correct it. :)

Nope - I could happily attach, for example, a 20amp supply to any device (with the correct voltage) that requires any amount of current below that and it will only draw the current that is required. Current, in practice, works on a pull basis so as long as the supply is capable of supplying its requirements the device will be ok. Power supplies are rated by what they are able to supply in amps or watts not on what they will always be providing.

Voltage works on push so if you use a supply that is outside its range the device will be forced to accept it and that can cause damage. That said 12v is generally accepted as automotive voltage and it would be considered poor design to not incorporate a voltage range that covers any voltage that a vehicle 12v supply might produce when charge is being supplied by the alternator (up to around 14v).

i have the green light only as well. no video, no bios, no minix logo, device does not show on my network. nothing. using the same power supply that i received with the unit, which has a solid green light on the brick, as normal. also i bought it around 2 years ago, so out of factory warranty. is that it for my Minix, no solution, no repair available? i own a brick now?

Hi there,

been using my Minix for 1.5 years now with great success, however suddenly it will not boot and instead has a red light - very disappointing. Judging by the note below, that means its just the adapter that is broken? can this be confirmed? if I buy a new adapter, it should start working again? What voltage range does it accept, 11v-13v ?

my led light kinda purple color, what that mean ? my pc just keep shutting off once i start
I don't know what that means (color).

Can you try with another PSU? (The same 12V - 3A)

Try enter safe mode:

I also don´t know if you have anything attached to the device (like for example a USB-HDD)
Disconnect (USB) and leave only the necessary (like for example a wifi keyboard and mouse , with dongle)
