SD Card Not Recognized

Unfortunately this SD Card problem pops up a lot with Cherry / Bay Trail Atom CPU’s. Installing the Windows 8.1 sdbus.sys driver works but then r/w speed is rather slow. I have several PC’s where the SD Card stops working suddenly without any SW or OS changes. I investigated and I am convinced this is the CHT52 bug in the latest Intel Z8000 specification update. Thus a hardware problem. Point is that Intel also mentions that LPC may stop working. Yikes, then the whole system dies. No solution, better not buy any PC’s with this CPU. Can Minix support reflect on this?

John, this is a forum. Which means information sharing. I guess a number of people here, myself included, would benefit from you sharing information here, instead of via PM.

Thus; what is Minix take on many users experiencing SD card problems? See my post above... I am convinced this is an Intel hardware bug. Do you have more information?

This issue affects a very small % of users, for those users we ask them to PM or email us and we can then assist fulfilling the warranty policy. I think customers would prefer to keep their personal details confidential rather than sharing on the forum.

Ofcourse. You are not discussing warranty claims and such here. But if there is an SD Card issue then it would be nice to discuss that here. I have two Z83-4 Pro’s here and several other Z8300 based micro PC’s. All of these experience SD Card problems after several months of constant use. That is exactly the HW bug that Intel mentions in heir specification update for the Atom Z8000 series. That issue needs to be discussed and it would help to hear Minix’ opinion on this.

Installing the Windows 8.1 sdcard.sys driver works but speed is impacted, maximum is 10 Mbit r/w with this driver.

I too am having an issue with SD cards. I've tried two different ones and both show a Code 10 "This device cannot start". Can't find a better driver.

Hello,
I have a Neo Z83-4 Plus and I have this problem too.
Even the driver is not recognized and doesn't appear on my computer, in my case with Windows 10 Pro.
Can you help please?

Hi, I have a Z83-4 Pro and I have this problem too.
I installed Z83-4-Driver-Fix_SD_card_cannot_be_seen.zip that you send me and the problem continues...
It update by Windows Update to Windows Pro 1909.
What can I do?

Was the driver correctly installed?

I recently struggled to replace the driver. I found that I had to do it manually by replacing the driver files sdbus.sys and the dumpsd.sys in Windows/system32/Drivers

I loosely followed this guide here...
https://theminixforum.com/index.php?threads/neo-z83-4-manually-install-the-driver.31/post-5272

Since doing this there has been no issues with the SD card yet! :)

Yes, the driver is correctly installed.

How can I replace the files? I cant copy and past in the Windows/system32/Drivers (including with Admin user).
Thanks!
