Many users asked me to create a thread where to share custom updates for ours minix devices. I'll post here my packages for X8 and X8-H.

You don't need cwm or custom recovery. You can install them from MINIX stock rom/recovery.

If there would be a problem that is caused by the way this update is made and flashed I don't want MINIX to get false info on the official firmware topic.
Even if the packages have been tested you are the only responsible in case of problems with this update! You are free to not use it.

HOW TO FLASH

1. Download update zipfile (from post #2)
2. DO NOT UNZIP!, the zipfile IS the update package!
3. Format a sdcard or usbstick to FAT32
4. Put the .zip file on the root of the sdcard or usbstick. Rename the file to update.zip

5. Power off the MINIX X8
6. Insert the sdcard or usbstick
7. Press the restore button with a pin (insert in the hole on the back) and keep it pressed
8. Press the power button and keep it pressed till you see the boot logo, then release it
9. Release the restore button

You will see a menu:
1. Select : apply update from EXT ( using your keyboard cursor )
2. Select : Update from Sdcard / Update from udisk (usb stick)
3. Select the .zip file
4. Press enter and wait until it is finished

When it is done select reboot and press enter.

I've made two update.zip to root and unroot minix firmwares. I used Koush Superuser App as I don't like SuperSU. If the Superuser app is updated by playstore it's better to uninstall the update manually before uninstall with this update.zip.​

only the neo-x8 h plus has update.
I have a neo-x8 H and would also like to upgrade to lolipop or marshmallow, its hardware allows this, why does it not update?
