IR Remote Not functioning correctly

Bought new box and connected all cables and the TV. New batteries in IR remote. Doesn't matter where I am on the screen, the up arrow key on the remote takes me out of NEO U9-H and back to HDMI. The OK button works sometimes with delay.

I was able to enter the internet password with virtual keyboard. But any other application the virtual keyboard doesn't come up. I want to sign into Skype but the virtual keyboard doesn't pop up. With lots of playing around I can get to the Skype sign in box, pressing OK just clicks but does nothing. No virtual keyboard to enter my user ID.

Not sure what I can do from here.

Please make sure the IR-Remote is directed towards the IR-Receiver on the front of the NEO U9-H.

You may wish to use one of the following alternative input methods:

- MINIX air-mouse [NEO A2 Lite or NEO A3]
- Wired mouse and keyboard
- Wireless/Bluetooth mouse and keyboard

Thanks for the quick reply John. I tried IR remote couple of inches away from the receiver or even touching the receiver still nothing. Also pressing the menu button increases the volume. The new box had no batteries.

So my only opitions are buy another remote NEO A2 or NEO A3. I need a remote. The one which came with the box is no good then?

If your IR remote control does not work correctly you must use :
-those alternatives as John said
-or another new IR remote control

sorry to say this @MINIX - John but as you know I find the IR remote more or less useless , I wish Minix would not include this as part of the standard package and include a basic wireless air mouse remote instead. You could then opt to purchase a more comprehensive airmouse such as the A2 lite.

I realise the better remotes are often sold in a "bundle", but the stock IR remote is such a let down for a premium device.

Please send me a PM, I'll help to resolve this matter.

Fully understand your point, the majority of our sales are bundles with NEO A2 Lite and NEO A3.
The standard box [no bundle] is primarily for those who either already own one of our remotes or want to use a different input method, so don't need to pay for a remote they don't want/won't use.
For example, if customer is upgrading from NEO X7 > NEO U1 > NEO U9-H they don't want to keep paying for the same remote each time.

I don't think anyone understands the problem described by the OP, so let me explain: The IR remote normally bundled with the NEO U9-H was designed with non-unique IR codes. I have two NEO U9-H devices, one at home and one in the camper. At home, the UP button on the IR remote changes the INPUT source on my TCL brand 50" TV. In the camper, the UP button on the IR remote changes the INPUT source on the camper's radio system that I use for media sound. Both results are maddening and are pretty obviously the result of design error. Apparently, in both cases, I will have to spend additional money purchasing an alternative non-IR input device because of the way the original (included) IR remote was designed.

I would welcome any comment from Minix that refutes this conclusion....
