You have a better third option ! (IMHO)

Simply to let it update via OTA to the last officially released firmware FW008 ( if not already on 008)

Welcome on board !:)

I would also agree that FW 008 would be the best option for you currently

Welcome!
FW 008 has all you need to get the most out of your U9-H. Apart from the excellent software included in the factory version, Google Play Store is a safe place to look for thousands of apps to bring your box into whatever you want it to be. Should you have any questions don't hesitate to come back to the forum and tell us about your thoughts. Someone will be happy to share some knowledge for sure.

On closer inspection of my device the following info was present.
Model- NEO-U9-H
Build- U9-H FW008 20180209
Version- 6.0.1
Android security patch level- 01/08/2016
Thankfully I have FW08 ...I think?
But my android version is old V6
Can I update this ?
If so how?
Will it be worth it?
I have tried to update over the OTA but says there are no updates or server is down
Finally, current release keys are:
MHC19J.20180209
Instruction tells me to do over wifi, using battery with 30% charge and unplug before upgrade, quite confusing.
I know theres a lot in here but it may help in anyone helping me?

You have the latest stable firmware so no need to go any further.

If you want android 7 then you will need to follow the CE rom link provided earlier. You really need to know why you want android 7 if you go this route.

You have the last possible OTA update.
You were given some opinions above, which you can follow. The U9-H performs very well with the software version that you got which is so far pretty much fail safe. However if modding is your thing, you can always try the advice that you were given above by @notrui and, should you mess things up, someone will try to help you anyway.

You have nothing to lose trying to find more about what you got so far.

I was hoping that android V7 would help with my downloads and keep things sweet.
It appears that since I have a reliable version to start tinkering could cause me further issues which I don't want.
I am reassured that I have everything that I need so will not update to V7 also to do the update seems bewildering to me and perhaps beyond my capabilities. An easier option.
I have ordered some cat 8 from 5E ethernet cables to assist in the downloads so hopefully should see a marked difference from my fibre 100mbs modem?
I would like to thank you all for your help and hope this will help others
Keep safe and indoors
