NEO X8-H Plus Lollipop OS FW: [20170612]

Ok....For those having problems with Ethernet after this firmware update - I was able to fix mine.
Not sure what did it, but I re-flashed it, this time doing 2 things differently:
  • When the flashing process was done (bar turned green and reported 100%), I pressed the big "STOP" button. The first time I flashed, I did not do this. I just assumed when it got to 100% and said success, it was done, and I unplugged the power (and USB cable) and plugged the power cable back in and turned it on. This time I pressed "STOP" first and when that was done I only unplugged the power (not the USB) and then plugged power back in and turned it on.
  • I also tried using the img file from the 2nd link this time. First time I used the img file from the first link.

Not sure which of these two things solved it, but I am guessing it is the first (img files should both be the same one would hope?). Hope this helps someone else. The instructions PDF could definitely be a lot clearer regarding steps 6 and 7.

I'm betting it's the second situation, because as you, I'm also had the same doubts and I've managed to to do the process twice with the same results.
 
Hi, having downloaded all the new firmware successfully I am finding that whatever I tried to load it regularly drops out. If i'm streaming there is continual buffering or if I'm just opening up the google play store page for example, the page will open momentarily and then drop out. Sometimes it streams better than other times but not where we used to be. Any ideas please? Thanks in advance

sounds more like an internet connection issue more than anything else. A router reboot may help

Thanks for the reply. I have completed a router restart with the broadband provider today and it has had no effect. I haven't plugged the router into test socket yet. Do you think this is necessary?
We have got an old router, probably about 4 or 5 years old if not older. 4 port ethernet plusnet router. I was considering a Ubiquiti Networks EdgeRouter X 5 Ports or NetGear GS105 5 port, if this might be the case.

I dont know what you mean by that ?

I think you need to know what you are doing with those as they appear to be generally not for home consumer use .

For my own part I have put my broadband providers router into "modem mode" and connecetd it to an Asus RT86U which is an excellent router offering great performance, running Merlin Custom firmware. I also have a number of TP-Link switches and seldom do i have any networking issues at all.

I have broadband speeds of 200 down and 20 up, even with openvpn running on the router, and streaming from "reliable" sources present no buffering issues.
Note I am currently using a minix u1 and u9, but had the same experience on the x8h plus.

Basically if your network and sources are good your minix can handle it.

Take your box to family or friends and try it there, see if you get the same problem.

If you do, try different ethernet cable, one you know works
 
So everything is now playing well. My minix box (minix x8-h plus) is turned off every night but now for the second time since updating to lollipop 5.1.1, when turned back on the next day it has done an automatic full factory reset. So all of the data on the whole box has been erased. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Currently I have reverted to KitKat and sound is ok.

Can someone help?

Use mega link (i think i used that) and it works fine for me.

I use only direct hdmi connection to tv.
 
i made the update the whole yesterday by a NEO X8-H Plus and it was very, very tricky. i want android 5 for install the new disney+ app, my info was, it works from a 5 up. but after installing a 5 (long time) i open´d play store, no disney+ app, sh...
but here is the story:

Laptop with Win10
i tried all different installs, but everytime NOTHING! but in devicemanager the X8-H plus was shown????
with Burn Card Maker and diff. cards and images, also no result!
then i travel to my win7 pc but it was everytime the same, no connection with USB_Burning_Tool. i tried different combination with on and reset switch, and with USB2 on pc i got a connection to USB_Burning_Tool, v2.1.7.3 with "hold reset, push short on and the box goes in different usb-mode for USB_Burning_Tool. my first upload was X8-H_Plus-Android_5.1-20170612-Burning_Tool.img, but by 96% was finish and a got a windows error, "the prog must be closed". but after box off and same procedur the box was again online. another img, the PROBOX2-EX+-20161221-patched was exactly the same. my idea, back to USB-BTv2.0.9 and new test with X8-H_Plus-Android_5.1-20170612-Burning_Tool.img. and i got "100%, compete sucsess"
i can´t believ it but is the box starting? YES! BUT no Disney+ App in Play Store. after asking google, i found some diff apk´s versions but i can´t install it, grrrrrr!
but i found split-apks-installer-sai.apk and disney_1.4.0.zip and i installed it and it works BUT, grrrrrrr, no sound at all! grrrrrrrr!
so many hours, but last try! installing the X8H_PLUS_LOLLIPOP_RC2.img ok, devicesounds ok and also in vlc, audio and video!
again split-apks-installer-sai.apk and disney_1.4.0.zip, all other apk´s wont install! i´ve tried it again!
disney+ works again, with sound! GREAT!!! BUT i have one little problem, i can´t volume down to zero. i use the A2 LITE AirMouse and the original remote, the vol-bar show 0 but it is loud.
any idea what i can do for this problem?

Hi. I am new to this forum and tried to install the new Lollipop FW using both SDCARD and the USB Burning tool from this forum.
My laptop runs Win 10 (64bit) and it was not able to "see" the box not in the device manager, nor in the burning tool. The Worldcup driver was installed and I even re-booted the PC. No matter the sequence I've done (between the recover and power) - nothing happened.
In SDCARD (I used 64G) option I tried to format the card using exFAT file system and different allocation unit sizes (16k, 32k, 64k, 128k) - same result. I either got the system recovery screen, or just a normal boot. Tried different power button and recover sequences - nothing came out of it.
Will be thankful for any help.

I am all new to this and I have downloads the USB burning tool and the LOLLIPOP_RC2. I have started the burning tool in my Windows 10 machine and done the reset on the Neo X8-H Plus, but it is not showing up in the USB burning tool to get it updated. This unit is a older unit still running 4.4.2. Can I get some help on how to update this please. Thanks!

Hi Marty Its been a while as I have tried a number of ways of opening up the zipped file that your link takes me to, unfortunately although the "Wizard" opens and I choose language "ENGLISH" ,when the actual script opens to allow "Contact" its in in Chinese??Can you please advise as I assume Im having finger trouble Thanks

has anyone got the complete fool proof idiot guide on how to upgrade my Minix NEO x PLUS from 4,4,2 to 5,1. İt would be much appreciated.
