MKV 4k files: playback suddenly stops for no apparent reason; same issue with different players.

Hello everybody.
I've been experiencing this issue: when playing MKV 4k files through USB pen drives (different files), the player just stops at a certain time (around 25 min.). This has happened with different players: VLC, CNX Player, and Kodi.
Those same files play without issues both through my LG 4k Player USB port and on my PC, so I figure the problem must lie with the Minix NEO U22-XJ.

I've already determined that hardware acceleration has to be on "Automatic" or permanently on, otherwise the picture will get unwatchable.
Is there any other setting on the Minix I should pay attention too? Some cache parameters to be increased? For instance, there should be a cache parameter in VLC, but I cannot seem to find it anywhere in the Android version.

Of course, I would not want to reduce picture quality to solve the issue.
Any suggestions?

For newbies' sake, just like myself, I'm documenting what I've found out.

So, I had the idea it could be something cache related. I've cleared VLC cache and... those same files now play just fine :D

Update.
Yesterday evening, when I turned on the player, I’ve had an unpleasant surprise: the same issue described above was happening. AGAIN. Wtf?
I gotta say, it kind of pissed me off. Why? What did I do?

Here’s what I had done: I had unplugged the pen drive, changed some files, and plugged it back in. As a result of that, I could no longer see the external USB drive in VLC, so I had to play the files via an external file browser.
And that’s when it hit me: this kind of behavior was the same I had encountered the day before: I could not see the USB drive in VLC media directories, so I had to play files through the file browser. But playback kept stopping inadvertently. Things had gone back to normal when I finally *could* see the USB drive in VLC, and play files directly from within the player (not through the external file browser).

Now, back to yesterday evening. What I did to solve the issue (besides cleaning all apps cache - you never know) was to close VLC and restart the Minix with the pen drive inserted. Upon restart, VLC was able to find the USB drive within its media directories and could play the files from there. And there was no more playback interruption. For now :D

Yeah, I know, I figured I could spare other users some of the frustration I've had to endure...
These issues may sound silly, but they sure do get on one's nerves. So... happy to be of service :D
