Minix U9-H Netflix HD

I have been using 6.26.1 for some time now, however, I keep running into the same issue. I can log in fine, but every time I try to watch something I keep getting an error "Sorry, we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problem persists, please visit the Netflix website (0013."

I have tried clearing the data, clearing the cache, restarting, uninstalling and reinstalling, and nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any recommendations or has Netflix finally stopped version 6.26.1 from working properly.

Our family uses Netflix almost daily. I'm using the same version and not experiencing any issues.

Try uninstalling your current version, then clear your cache and data again. Then try reinstalling it.
I just double checked, mine is working just fine!

@shane79 is that version of Netflix that you are running is that in HD?

I believe that the Netflix app reports the platform that it is on and that determines the video feed that you get so there is no SD/HD version as such. I read somewhere that it is possible to spoof the device label and fool Netflix into thinking it is an approved device. I've never tried it but I would like to. If you find out more I'd like to know.

That may be wrong but it seems right, otherwise getting the HD app would not be that hard.

I just side loaded the latest Netflix app, 7.75.1 and I went to the website on a PC and set my playback setting to high. It seems to be pretty good. I'm not on an ultrahigh def account so I can't check that but its acceptable.

Search for Test Patterns in Netflix and that will tell you what quality you are getting or look in the settings of the app to see what max resolution you can get:

Hi!

I was about to buy this device when I found that netflix is no hd. This restriction is only for the netflix app, right? So I can use the browser (chrome I guess) and use netflix in HD on this device? Or for instance, use the browser to watch content in 4k, be it netflix or youtube or anything else, is it possible?

(As a soon to be boomer, and web developer, I hate that everything is a stupid app. What happend to the good old web applications...)

Thanks in advance!

I'm afraid the only time I have managed to hit 1080p with Netflix on a Minix box was through the Kodi addon. Otherwise it is only SD, if you try view via a web browser it tells you to download the app.

(Purely my experience, others may beg to differ)

I use Netflix almost daily on almost all my MINIX devices. Unfortunately you are correct, other than the Kodi addon version all other version are only SD. ( Due to Netflix of course )

I don't care to use the Kodi version for a few reasons and I find the SD version which I use is more than adequate for me.

What is this kodi addon? First of all, is it free? And why don't you like it?

Also wouldn't spoofing the requests in the browser to netflix be enough? So the browser sends the user-agent to netflix, that can be rewritten on the fly so netflix thinks you are viewing it from a desktop (you could even spoof you are using windows)?
I have just checked it, there is even a chrome extension for it: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-for-c/djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjiklpkjnoahfmg

(What world we live in, seriously, CONTENT provider blocks its users from consuming their content on specific hardware/software just because the content creator doesn't like the performance of that hardware/software ??? It's like you can eat nutella only with a specific bread. This is pure bullshitery. I wouldn't mind that netflix certificated devices exists, and they can promote themselves that they are very good in netflix so they cost more, but blocking other devices, really??? Btw, the problem with quality of netflix is not the sharpness of the screen but the lack of sharpness of netflix storywriters.

Update: WTF, netflix even participated in the Internet Slowdown Day to fight for Net Neutrality, this is hypocrisy on the highest level.)

It's free, prerequisites and full instructions here

It's not that I dislike it, it's more a case of I pay for the Ultra package so why should I settle for 1080p when I can get 4k UHD through the TV app.

Could not agree with you more, complete bullshitery as you say

Totally !!
We pay the same money, we should all get the same features!.... Give me what I pay for

Thanks for the infos, I am new to this smart tv/tv box universe.
The more I read about these the more headache I get, first I wanted to buy a smart tv so I don't have to connect my laptop to the 10 year old, not smart, samsung tv that is perfectly functioning and has perfect screen quality in full hd. After reading about the smart tv-s I found out that they have different OS-s and different apps, for example some doesn't have Hbo Go app some other doesn't have UPC Horizon app etc, also I don't want to lock myself with a TV that would not get updates after a few years because manufacturer just moves on the their newer product, I don't really plan to switch my tv only when it breaks. So I decided to buy a mini pc, that would be connected to this 10 year old but still gold samsung tv of mine and I would use this as I use my connected laptop now, but in more comfortable way. Turns out that "mini pc-s" have pretty much the same problem that I had with the smart tv-s, some doesn't support netflix, some doesn't support usb drives etc. :D

TLDR:
This article mentions that you can use aptoid to install netflix app and use the full hd version of it on minix. What do you think about this aptoid? Is it safe to use? Isn't this some sideloader stuff that I can get viruses too? My tv is full hd so I am fine with netflix being only full hd (although I don't agree with their restricting policies at all, as I mentioned above). https://androidtvnews.com/minix-neo-u9-h-review/
