This is how I rooted the Lollipop Beta & RC, do so at your own risk OK!!

Download SuperSU here
Download TWRP here

- Extract recovery.img from the download above.
- Put recovery.img & SuperSU-v2.82 onto an SD Card formatted to FAT32
- Put the SD Card into your Minix and boot to TWRP recovery (same process as stock recovery).
- Swipe to allow modifications
- Select Install
- On the bottom right click "Select Storage"
- Choose Micro SDCard
- Select the SuperSU zip in the top left
- Once flashed select Reboot System

mmmhhh that could be the problem then, however when I press the recovery and power button with the sd card in, it boots into normal recovery not TWRP.
Or do I have to follow different steps? I have the files as you mentioned in the sd card (as per screenshot attached).

Yes the card is formatted to fat32.
Have also kept pressing recovery and power button, waiting for more than 3 minutes with the MINIX logo onscreen --- no TWRP boot screens.
Have also re formatted card and re-downloaded everything.... to no avail :(

Try a other SDcard. It works realy. Have you rename to recovery.img?

Just pull the power cord and try rebooting as many times as it takes to pick up the right resolution, if I remember correctly my record was 5 times before it displayed correctly, other times it would be on the first boot.

Thank you for the fast reply :)! I reinstalled the lollipop rom watching a video on youtube and thinking that the rom was already with the root.
Everything went fine ... just lost all the afternoon o_O ... but in the end the rom was not rooted  ! I had problems also when I switched to the Minix launcher and I was not able to go back to the normal android launcher . In the end, from the settings I found the way to select the android launcher.
I followed again your procedure and this time I was able to see the full TWRP window (was with a terrible graphic but still visible ) ... and install the root :giggle:! Now it is working fine! ... I'm going to use it in my car with a Pioneer appradio ... and Arunchained app :)!

A little late to the game here but I was bored and decided to root my x8-h plus. I followed the instructions by @Marty and apparently my x8hp is now rooted with #SU. I used a root checker and confirmed that I am rooted. My question is that I am unable to configure any apps to root. What am I doing wrong ?

just a follow up. One of my apps did pop up for granted access to root and that was X-plore file browser. It is set up now for root access but my question is still open as to why no other app is showing up for granted access ?
