Ethernet does not work with CoreELEC on my Minix U22-XJ

Hello again everyone. I have not connected to the forum for a long time due to work reasons. I have a strange problem with Corelec on my U22-XJ. About a month ago my ethernet connection suddenly stopped working. I had it connected to a manual ip and I changed it to automatic (dhcp) and an ip comes out that has nothing to do with my private network. By wifi I can connect manually without problem. And with Kodi on android ethernet it works perfectly with manual connection. I have reviewed everything: primary dns, gateway ... Anyway, if someone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.
Greetings to all.

I don't use CoreElec.

If your device is working well (ethernet) with default android OS then you should look at:
-CoreElec installed version (maybe you updated to a new version and it is not working properly... ).

Notes:
-DHCP is working well with android OS (ethernet and Wi-Fi)
-check your router configurations with another device (desktop for example).
-be aware of ip conflit (when using manual ip configuration... ).

I do use Coreelec with my U22 ( currently using 19.1 rc 4, although I note they now have 19.1, and have used older 18 versions in the past) and never experienced any issues with ethernet.

I would only suggest that you check your router settings and set a reserved Ip address for your U9. This is tied to the ethernet mac address and would be the same whether in android or coreelec.

Let Coreelec handle IP address DHCP automatically. I would also suggest turning of wifi in Coreelec if connecting via ethernet.

Check your ethernet MAC address from Android on your U22!! Is it still very similar to the WiFi MAC address or has it changed & now looks more like a date instead?

(Will explain why depending on your answer :)!!)

Thanks very much both for your help. Everything you tell me I have tried. This is kind of a strange phenomenon. I just have to try to install Coreelec on the U1 which is the other Minix that I have apart from the U22, let's see what happens, otherwise I will have to settle for the Wi-Fi connection. Fortunately I have 300 megabytes. Not bad at all but never comparable to the ethernet connection.
Thanks to both.

I just saw the Mac address of the U22 and it is true it looks more like a date without letters. Different from my cell phone.

The ethernet of U22 of course as you indicate me

I had a U22 that did the same thing with CE installed to the eMMC only my ethernet port completely ceased to function with CE & I still used DHCP. (CE updated from 18 to 19 & I did a hard reset of CE, it wasn't immediate but it was very soon after this CE update & reset that the ethernet port then apparently failed & no longer registered a MAC address at all.)

After extensive troubleshooting, re-flashing the MINIX firmware back to the eMMC & physically dismantling the affected U22, the ethernet port then began to work again but somehow the original MAC address had been completely wiped & replaced with the date of the Android firmware build itself.

I continued to use the device for a while with both the official FW & CE running from an SD card but soon afterwards the ethernet port permanently ceased to function. Since, I've tried various means to rectify the problem but it appears to now be permanent.

I've also tried installing FW with root & attempted to reprogram the MAC address back to the original address but nothing has worked so far & the affected U22 will now only work with WiFi which still has its original MAC address. (Obviously, because your device no longer has a recognisable MAC address you can't reserve an IP from your router & it may interfere with other normal network functions.)

I've never experienced this with any other network capable device before & there is definitely a direct correlation with installing CE to the eMMC & allowing it to update and/or reset. Unless absolutely necessary, I'd strongly advise against installing CE to the eMMC as so far I've been unable to reproduce this issue with 2 x additional U22's running Android from the eMMC & CE from SD cards. (I'm not going to attempt to recreate it again with CE installed to the eMMC for obvious reasons as I'm now reasonably certain I could recreate it & that would potentially be another U22 with a dead ethernet port!!)

Ideally, both MINIX & CE's devs need to test for this issue themselves as it essentially renders an ethernet port dead or very limited at best.

Well thank you very much first of all. Although it is hot here in Spain I have been frozen with what you tell me because I also installed my U22 CE in the eMMC. The truth is yet another disappointment with this device that certainly does not measure up to the previous ones. Anyway, Minix will know what to do but I feel more and more disenchanted with their products and as for Corelec they are like unattainable gods for mere mortals, like me, who tried to help me through their forum 2 years ago and I'm still waiting for them to answer me. For the record, I do not detract from CE, but since they have the forum, they could answer from time to time. I'm starting to get tired of all this lately, they rob me of too much time for nothing, it doesn't make up for you to miss out on other important and attractive things in life and sometimes you don't even have time to quietly enjoy a series or movie. Sorry I was too funky.
Thanks for your time.

Not to mention somewhat troublesome given its ability to render a U22 useless to those that rely on the added security, reliability & performance of ethernet.
Guess I've been lucky then as i choose to install CE only to the SD card.
Hopefully someone from Minix will be able to provide a solution. Did you seek advice from them when it initially happened as I dont recall seeing anything posted about this issue before ?

Have you tried flashing rooted U22 firmware and then manually changing the MAC address via Terminal Emulator?

Thank you very much Marty seems very interesting and useful but as ethernet works for me on Android for now I am not going to do anything. Since I do not feel like experimenting and I did not succeed and I failed ethernet in android too. But the link is very good and I will surely use it.
Thank you very much.

Not less than a month ago it happened to me.
Thanks for your interest.

It is annoying having to depend on the translator changes the meaning of the things I say.
Post in Spanish too along with the translation!
I will understand it, or at least be able to make a better judgement of the translation.
