NEO X8-H Plus Lollipop OS FW: [20170612]

I would like to know if Minix X8H-Plus upgrade to 5.1.1 is possible with OTA ?
Actually i use kitkat 4.4.2

I know firmware 2 and 4 are same (3 too it's seem, and 5 a customized room ?)

But 2 and 4 are Release Candidate, not a "final" version,
Anyone knows what about 1 ? the size between firmware are different
1 : 929,3 Mo
2,3 4 : 894,5Mo


And last question :
upgrade is possible with usb stick or i must use a sdcard ?
because my computer is 100% linux, i can't use any program to connect the minix to the computer.
I can only flash with usb/sdcard.

Hi new member here please be gentle.

A U9-H is on the way (which is why I joined) but I want to use my old X8-H Plus with another TV.
I tried the Update option in Settings but nothing happened.
I did see that it does not update rooted devices......does the reference to 'root' in the Kernel version mean that it is?
I've downloaded the 5.1 update files from here but haven't tried yet....should they work on my X8-H Plus?

Literally just done this! The burn program on my laptop would not recognise that the Minix was attached, the USB picked it up and enabled device drivers so I could see the Minix on Windows file manager though. That's the method this thread advises
I ended up using the SD Card burn method in the end which is in a separate thread. That worked ok

Guys, Lollipop FW was released by MINIX primarily so that future Kodi versions would be compatible.

If you have no issues other than Kodi incompatibility with KitKat then I suggest you stick with KitKat.
For Kodi there are forks available that work with KitKat!

I don't just use it for Kodi. A lot of the other TV apps (iPlayer, All4 etc) were starting to perform poorly on Kitkat. They're mostly better with Lollipop (apart from Sky Go - separate thread)
The Minix XBMC 16.3 is still available once the Lollipop OS is loaded. So why wouldn't you trial this and download/use a Kodi fork that works with Lollipop as well?
I was slightly mystified that the Metro "Settings" folder had lost all the Minix specific options though.

Still happily using KitKat here with no iPlayer or All 4 issues!

Using Kodi forks is more relevant to KitKat not Lollipop as new Kodi versions work fine.
 
I have the Lollipop firmware but the Minix settings are no longer there - it goes straight through to the black and white screen for Android Settings if I click the Settings button on the Metro front screen.
Is this something I can reinstall separately without taking the box back to factory?

hello folks im new to this too ..just tried to update using method but it failed at 5% i have an minux x8-h it is not a plus any advice greatly appreciated ...

hi ...
after try 3 pc's and more than 7 cables.. i'm unable to connect the minix to the usb tool. ...

i'll try then the SD mode to update the minix...

any explanation why it doesn't work? .. i'm worry as if i have to go back and install the old software i'll not be able to do it .. as i thnk the recommended way to go back to a previous version is only recommended by PC .. right?
