Screen Rotation settings not saving when box is reset.

Those with this screen rotation problem may have tried this numerous times already, but nobody in this thread appears to have mentioned changing the auto-rotate screen setting in Settings>More Settings>Display>Auto-rotate screen in 2020612 - V004 that I'm still using in new U22-XJ until I get original V007 bricked U22-XJ unbricked.
I can't see how that would help as the device does not have an accelerometer!

I can't see how that would help . . .
Neither can I, but just thought the possibility of some interaction between android and/or OP's apps when auto-rotate is selected/not selected during reboot might be worth checking if it has not been already.

@Ferrocene i have tried changing the auto-rotation, no effect. @CybeRider , just tried Nova, was able to change the rotation within Nova's settings and they stayed after a reboot. Doing more testing, thanks!
I have found that if Auto-rotate screen is enabled it affects the outcome of the Screen Rotation setting. ie: it is reset.

OK, I thought I had the definitive solution!?

But actually after switching about different combinations of Screen Rotation and Auto-rotate screen I now appear to have rotation issues!:ROFLMAO:

My only thoughts are that with a Factory reset and then only adjusting Settings, Device Preferences, Screen Rotation will the setting stick.
Before I started interfering with other rotation settings my device would always remember the rotation setting!

@Villa in the last few days i have factory reset 2 of my units several time, this to start fresh. The first test is always the rotation on the settings and disabling auto-rotation from more settings, never once worked. As of now, i have Nova installed and it has kept the rotation after multiple reboots, apps show rotated as well. Not the ideal solution because requires additional software, i hope a solution will be presented at some point. Thanks @CybeRider for suggesting Nova!

Quick update guys, Auto-rotate is required for the apps to rotate with Nova. In other words, if you disable auto-rotate the home screen rotates but apps will show in landscape.

Hey guys, i figured i'd shared some info i received from Minix support, they have acknowledged this to be an issue with the unit and adviced a fix will be deployed in the next firmware upgrade. Thanks again to those who tried helping. Geovani

Do you mind me asking what digital signage software you are using? If you can send a signal from the CMS to the player to orientate it in portrait the software can rotate the image for you. I've found I need to select 90 degrees then restart the U22 and then the software can then autorotate the image for you on the back end. Hopefully that makes sense.

This is the temporary solution we ended up using. Our software has a rotation setting which also wouldn't save on reset, but we found that by using the software rotation setting as well as the Minix rotation setting together it seems to work.

The box boots up in landscape but then switches to portrait when the signage app opens. It's not perfect and we have had some reports of content playing upside down at times.

Hi Jordan
I've found if you add the apk set orientation apk by eyes free project you can set the orientation on the display and it will stay in that orientation on startup

Hope that helps
