Custom ROM MARTY X8H-PLUS LOLLIPOP SPMC ROM

Thanks for your quick reply! I tried this a few days ago but got an error, its because my stock firmware is not rooted?

So if i install your custom ROM and then try to flash TWRP it should work? I want to get “Sony apps enabler” for PS Remote play in the end..

You think im able to get this working on the minix 8-h plus?

I don’t see why not, it’s exactly what I’ve done with both my boxes, this ROM then flashed TWRP

You ever used the “Sony app enabler” what im talking about?

Do you also have a guide to install your custom ROM? I did a update from 4.4.2 to 5.1.1 but its a long time ago.

I haven’t tried the Sony App Enabler so can’t comment on that.

My preferred method of flashing is with Burn Card Maker, see here:
https://theminixforum.com/index.php...pop-firmware-update-with-burn-card-maker.234/

I did the flash and my box is running on your ROM now.

My second question i must put TWRP on the SD Card and work like the ROM flash method right? The name of the TWRP file must be changed to “recovery.img.” Or “recovery.img”?

And then when im in my recovery screen select the image to flash TWRP

Can someone please advise if it has wifi issues after waking from sleep? @Marty?

Sorry I’m unable to comment as I always use Ethernet, I was hoping someone else would give feedback. That said, WiFi issues would be related to the kernel so I would have to presume it would be the same.

Doesn't happen in the stock ROM 4.4.2? Any reason for that? So can you not test what happens with your box after it wakes up from sleep?

The Lollipop kernel is different to the Kitkat kernel and not backwards compatible that’s why it doesn’t happen with 4.4.2, I could test but like I said, my ROM has the same kernel as the RC2 ROM so I would expect the same result, I don’t have kernel compiling skills so couldn’t help if confirmed the same, sorry for no better news.

Ok thanks please test and let me know

Marty, thank you very much, great ROM. But ..., after loading, periodically, the sound disappears (and the system sound also). It is not "treated" by software shutdown, only by juggling the power cord. Do not tell me, please, what's the problem?

Sounds more like a hardware issue, I haven’t experienced the same and no reports from others using this ROM, I can only suggest flashing the Minix Lollipop ROM and see if the fault is there or not, sorry for no better news.

Hi there
Is it any chance that I can play a film with mxplayer and stream the audio sound via wifi to android devices, such as phones or wifi speakers?
On windows I can do it with SoundWire ( server on pc and client on android phones ) and I was thinking to do the same with Minix.
Thanks

hello. i'm kind of flooding the whole forum with these questions, and i apologize for doing it... @Marty, is it possible that this rom works on neo z64? or will i just brick the device?

It's only for the Neo X8H Plus unfortunately.

I created this ROM solely for smooth video playback in SPMC so please do not go asking for Live Wallpaper, AirPin etc...., it is stripped to the bare minimum for better performance. I have not tried it with Kodi as I prefer SMPC because it utilises the amcodec.

You will need to run the SuperSU app and reboot after install to access the SuperSU settings, it is pre-rooted but the app doesn't seem to realise it.

Details:
- Removed some Minix code from the boot.img that was causing video stutter with amcodec.
- Added some code to the boot.img for CPU performance.
- Force Landcape is now default on install, hopefully no posts about centered apps ;-)
- Added the original Minix Wallpaper that Minix couldn't be bothered to put into the Lollipop RC.

I have been using SPMC 17.6 to test this ROM and the results have been flawless (for me at least), this ROM comes with SPMC pre-installed, in SPMC Settings switch to Expert mode and apply the following under Player settings:

- Set Adjust display refresh rate to Always
- Set Enable HQ scalers for scaling above to 100%
- Select Allow hardware acceleration - amcodec
- Deselect both MediaCodecs
- Set MPEG2, MPEG4, h264 and hevc to Always

Lastly, I am using this ROM direct X8H-Plus to TV via HDMI so please do not post asking about HD audio etc....I don't have the answers.

So without further ado, get flashing and enjoy............And as always, do so at your own risk.

It all depends on how you use your device. If you use just kodi, give CoreELEC a try because it's rock solid.
