4K Video Playback

Hi, a person left a comment on a photography forum saying that he could use the U1 to playback his 4K video recorded on his camera because he didn't own a 4K tv.
In my other post I asked if the T5 could do this, is the T5 powerful enough to do the same being a newer model, chipset etc, thanks.
Hi, would the T5 playback a 4K 100Mbits video file recorded on a camera via the usb or micro SD card slot on a 1080p TV.

At the moment I don't own a 4K TV, would this be to much for this device, if it's even possible, many thanks.

Thanks for reply. I think I‘m asking the wrong question, would it down sample a 4K video file to 1080p.

Not sure down sample is the correct terminology, but yes a 4k file can be played on a 1080p TV ( at least it does on mime)

Great thank you, your help is much appreciated. Need a cheap devive because the camera can't down sample? the 4K footage, it will play a 1080p recording but lower resolution tv's need a device to change the resolution or you just get the sound.

Apparently 4K down sampled? looks a lot sharper as well. Until I can afford a good 4K tv this should be ok, will try one, thanks.

You just set the output resolution on the T5 to match your 1080 TV, (or just leave the T5 set to auto-detect)!!

If your TV has a maximum resolution of 1080, the device will output at 1080 regardless of the source files themselves being in 4K.

Simples ;).

Thanks, much appreciated. There is one other advantage to downsampling 4K camera or comcorder video, the image noise is apparently reduced to, thanks again for your replies.
