7.1 sound and Harmony support

HI All, just received my U22 (upgrading from U1) and having a couple of issues

1) setting up kodi and in the audio settings it wont show options for True-HD or DTS-HD so depite kodi showing a 7.1 soundtrack my sound bar is only showing DD/DTS 5.1, My U1 running SPMC showed the correct values. I've gone into the Minix setting>Audio Output and changed the digital Audio Format to manual and turned on all the options.

2) is there a profile on the Harmony database for the U22 , my existing profile from the U1 works for directioanl keys and enter but not the play buttons or page up/down.

Is your U22 up to date (OTA) ?
 
Well, maybe it's a part of known bugs.

Known Bugs

1. Automatic Refresh Rate Switch is missing
2. Certain formats not working correctly via HD audio pass-through

Correct, HD audio passthrough to receivers or soundbars currently doesn't function with Android & the U22, HD audio formats are defaulting down to SD/lossy.

You could try CoreELEC if you so wish, HD audio passthrough works.

No worries :).

MINIX are obviously aware of this problem & they're pushing Amlogic to work out these bugs but the Corona virus situation continues to slow work down that would have been seen to much faster under normal circumstances.

You can still dual boot Android & CoreELEC (essentially switch between them quickly as required) if you'd still like to get HD audio running with Kodi on your U22. (If you weren't aware that was a possiblity :).)

Otherwise, you may need to be patient for full support for HD audio passthrough with the U22 & Android to be sorted out.
 
Hopefully it will be sorted in a firmware, more pressing is the harmony support, this is raised with every hardware release and I note in the supplied small manual it's even commented as compatible with logitech harmony, but it would have helped if Minix had supplied Logitech with the device info so it could have been added to their database ready.
 
Just an update, I've got the harmony working by using the Nvidia Shield profile and adding the harmony via the Device Preferences/Remotes & Accessories section of the u22, its not perfect but combining with a minix x6 profile the only commands I'm missing are page up and down for within kodi. I've got round that by using a small sequence to imitate the command, not perfect but better than it was

I use this for my harmony (hub) it is from the u9 but works olso with the u22.
Harmony is set to minix u9.

I'm facing the same issue with my Harmony Touch (IR) and U22-XJ. As you, my previous Minix was a U1 and all Harmony buttons work fine. Migrating to U22, all buttons works but Play/Pause/Stop/FF/FR :( . I associated those buttons to the minix U9 profile in Harmony but nothing changed so I tried to follow your suggestion, I associated the Nvidia Shield profile into the Harmony but when I try to add Harmony to the Device Preference->Remote&Accessory, I only have the option to pair a Bluetooth device and here I'm stuck since my remote is IR. Is your remote IR or Bluetooth?

Well, my remote has only IR and I don't want invest additional money just for this issue. I wonder why it doesn't work as the previous devices. This is my third minix and the X8-H Plus and U1 both worked like a charm with same profile.

Anyway, I found a workaround with my LG remote. I activated the HDMI CEC feature on the U22 and mapped the IR LG remote signals to the Harmony for all the missing commands. It sounds it works. I'll keep it in "testing mode" for a while waiting for a more robust solution (maybe a fix?)

How did you do that. I can't get it to work. I have the harmony ultimate with hub.
