Bought an A3 remote a few weeks ago and so far, I've had to change the batteries almost every 10 days. Got Kirkland batteries.

Have you installed a lot of additional apps that could potentially stop the remote properly entering sleep mode?

For example, is the mic LED on the front of the remote constantly blinking or recurrently persistent?

Otherwise, I've experienced similar issues in the past with a U9-H causing an A3 to rapidly drain cells that was essentially caused by an iffy update to the main Google app itself and/or the OK Google voice detection system. (This essentially kept the mic constantly live unless I manually disabled it every time I used the A3 by long pressing the mic button on the remote & I eventually disabled the A3's mic altogether from the system options as I could never clear the root cause in my case. Not long after that the device required a factory reset which did then completely clear the problems for good anyway.)

Try clearing the cache & data for the main Google app first. If no joy, try disabling the Google app which will revert it back to the factory version, let it auto update again & then see if that clears it.

Additionally, try clearing the entire system cache from the recovery menu.

Failing that, as mentioned above, you can hard disable the A3 mic input if it's paired with a MINIX media hub (if it's constantly live), or you can try a full factory reset if all else fails too.

Up to you how radical you want to get to resolve the problem in one go or if you want to try systematically troubleshooting it first really ;)!!!

They sure do!

Kirkland are Costco's in house brand that are very inexpensive compared to higher quality batteries, you get a large number of batteries for not a huge cost..... The cost of them suggests that they are of a lower quality.

For things that get a lot of use I go for a better quality battery, I think you will come out a head over time....:)

Interesting replies and thanx for your input. I spent the extra bucks, so I could use the voice entry. I don't think it's on unless I want it on. No red light, but who knows.

Kirkland batteries I believe are rebranded DURACELL.

"Many people are hesitant to buy knock-off or store brand batteries because they never seem to last as long as the big-name brands like Energizer or Duracell. Well, that won’t be the case with Kirkland batteries, because they’re actually made by Duracell. Costco’s CEO, Craig Jelinek, revealed that little-known secret in an interview."

I've read that also but I wonder if they are the same quality?

My experience is that they don't seems to last as long as a more expensive battery...... it could be all in my head however;)

I've always used Varta 1000 mAh AAA Accu Ni-MH Rechargeable Batteries.
Until I discovered IKEA LADDA 900 mAh AAA Ni-MH rechargeables. These I believe to be rebranded Panasonic Eneloop! (y)

Costco is a wholesale corporation (chain) here in North America which is a membership only club. They have very good prices on just about everything. They are known for selling items in multi-packs or large quantities.

Batteries are a big seller and usually comes in packs of 12 or more !

Best find you have ever posted on this forum, I have been using the LADDA AAA's for some time now and and cannot praise them enough.

I often put my A3 in a cupholder on my recliner. The A3, rather than lying flat is at an angle up. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

I had the same problem but what I have done is to remove one of the batteries every night after i’m done for the day of watching. It helps a lot. Just remove one battery, esy peezy japanezy...

Another small problem on my remote is that unless I have new fresh batteries It wont turn on my unit.
I have to get right up close to it. I sit about 15 feet away from my set.
