All these 4K Ulta /Atmos sources - Does the U9 lose any quality?

Hey everyone,

I'm very curious if my Minix U9 loses any quality at all when playing the 2160P HDR /Atmos sources? I've never actually bought a disk to see what they look like :)

Does the minix play the exact same quality as a Ultra disk? Is the Atmos sound identical as well or is it a lower resolution (the way Netflix does it).

Crazy question but it had me wondering this morning!

Its not clear what your 2160 HDR/Atmos sources are but U9-H plays such media files absolutely fine

Thanks - i know i get HDR and such but wasn't sure if it was compressed at all compared to the actual disk.
All my files are the typical 50 gig, 2160P, HDR, Atmos.
Again i was very curious if i was losing any quality anywhere VS an ultra disk. I just re-did my entire home theatre and spent a small fortune with a 5.1.4 Atmos set up and wanted to make sure i wasn't get lower quality at all VS a disk (i'm sure my sources are fine, was wondering about minix).

The large 4K/HDR 50+ GB Blu-ray rips are typically compressed using the lossless HEVC codecs but the source media is still the same & you shouldn't experience any loss of quality. Using audio passthrough with Kodi & the U9-H, for example, the video component is processed untouched as it is through to your TV & the audio component to the AVR, i.e. no transcoding or post processing effects (unless you enable them lol ;)) :).

HD audio formats such as TrueHD with Atmos metadata or DTS:X/DTS-HD MA are lossless too, again absolutely no loss of audio quality at all :). (Netflix (etc.) use the lossy DD+ format with Atmos metadata rather than TrueHD to minimise file size & corresponding bandwidth usage, (that's how they're able to do it ;)).)

The U9-H does an outstanding job of 4K HDR :). I've never been able to tell any difference between my 4K HDR Blu-ray's vs rips. You really would be very hard pushed to see any difference & you certainly won't hear any difference.

Rest assured, you're getting the best out of your expensive HT system :). I have a similar 5.1.2 setup with 4K HDR, it was all worth every single penny :).
