Any plan to release a new firmware from Minix a less buggy one ?

Hi,

Do you have any plan to release a new firmware from Minix... a less buggy one ?

I do not refer to the CE one, I refer a new one directly from Minix ?

Like SMB does not work it is a big annoyance, by example

And one that accept the 64 bits version of Kodi

And use FTP is a patch ... a real Firmware upgrade will be welcome!

Thanks

No, 008FW for NEO U9-H is very stable.

But I still cannot see my Minix through the network using Samba, The genuine Firmware cannot allow Kodi to be installed in 64 bits ...I believe there are some work to be done to fix this

I'm really happy with this new firmware

but

What I'm not ,is that I have discovered that the Minix Neo U-9H is 64 bits, but the operation set are 32 bits, so we cannot install kodi 64 bits and use the full power of kodi, I feel that I have been fooled, been robbed so why advertise that it is 64 bits!!! it is not true!!!

You already knew the answer to your own question not to mention about the limitations regarding 64 bit Kodi nearly a year ago from your similar post here under the CE ROM thread.... https://theminixforum.com/index.php...-h-android-7-1-2-nougat.1310/page-2#post-8393 .

I don't quite understand why you're still complaining about this now when you also knew that the U9-H wouldn't be officially upgraded by MINIX beyond 6.0.1 (FW008) from a long term forum membership or the contents of the 7.1.2 CE ROM thread that you actively participated in as well. You also seemed to be aware that the 7.1.2 firmware was a CE release & that whilst it may give some users certain benefits it also came with certain losses in that it didn't necessarily include all of the original features included with the official MINIX 6.0.1 firmware too.

You've had many months to revert back to 6.0.1 if the CE 7.1.2 FW doesn't have the necessary features you require & you've also known since last year at a minimum that no additional updates would ever be coming to further update the U9-H!! (So, why even ask or complain about it all yet again now or do you simply enjoy flogging dead horses lol?)

Give it a rest already ;)!! (The U9-H has long passed its "reasonable" upgrade lifetime.) Either get used to what you actually have available now or invest in an updated device that can support 64 bit Kodi if you're that desperate for it, or any other updated features you wish to have :).

Got many issues with both of them with confinment I was not happy how my config turn to so I delete Coreelec, FW008 and CE and finally reinstalled CE

Here is my point of view after playing with the 3 FirmWare...Coreelec, FW008 and CE

Coreelec is updated freely and often, it is very speedy, but you are stuck in the Coreelec environment, like you can just mostly run Kodi, I cannot control Kodi with my voice using Yatse ans Also Samba works in coreelec

FW008 is very slow, It is running Android, so you can install Kodi 32 bits and other Anroid Apps such Yatse in order to control Kodi with your voice, even if Minix did make some money by selling many boxes, they do not maintaint, ithe box and it have lack of Samba connection so we cannot see it with a Pc or a MAC

CE is a public effort that run Android, but still since it is still a beta, witch at least run Kodi 64 bits and allow control with Yase but Samba still not working on PC or Mac, so the best bet is CE, but I'm disapointed that Minix will not show some leadership to release something better than CE free of bug

Unless if I'm wrong, Samba connection may be need a password and username that I may do not know I will delete my comments

The following of this post is to show my disapointment regarding Minix and some lack of new firmware that allow to install kodi in 64 bits and allow to use propely Samba, they just need to rework a bit more CE

Sorry but I did stay at home for more than 2 months with this covid thing so I'm a bit impatient these times

FW008 is very slow
It has nothing to do with the firmware, it has everything to do with the box itself, back in 2016 this was one of the fastest boxes on the market, of course if you go comparing it to boxes of today then it is slower, you are entitled to your opinion but at least be fair.

Really!! 8 firmware updates in its lifespan, I would say that is dedicated after sales of a product, of course you are entitled to your opinion but at least be fair.

Name one android box on the market that has a 64 bit OS, plenty with 64 bit architecture but none that I know of that have the 64 bit OS, I am sorry to say this will not be coming to a nearly 4 year old device, its not even on the current flagship U22, be fair....

Finally I think that none of those firmware will suit my need for now, I will try the public Android Tv version that I think will suit my need

After trying many ATV public firmware and none of them are reliable I let them all go. What I do not understand is you did remove the ATV firmware because you have a partnership with Google so why they did not help you to promote ATV firmware?

Also due to the lack of new firmware of your end I have decided to sell my Minix Neo U9-H box and buy instead an Nvidia Shield Pro

You need to ask Google, they are the ones who requested all references to ATV apart from the T5 be removed, part of the certifying agreement.

It is going to be extremely sad to see you go but we wish you luck on your venture.

Do we need one?
Our U9's have been running for several months now without any hic-ups, it has been very stable!

I guess if you want ATV that's a different conversation all together......good luck with your Shield!
