Do you need android? By that I mean, do you run any android apps you absolutely must have? If not, you might consider running a Linux based OS instead of android. I use CoreElec and find it MUCH more stable and with far fewer issues than android.
Although I now have CoreElec installed internally on my U9-H, you do have the option to run it off an SD card. Running it off an SD card allows you to test CoreElec, while keeping android internally in the box. Plus if there are android apps you need, you retain access to them, while also enjoying CoreElec.
