Audio sync issue with youtube

Any time i play videos on youtube the audio goes out of sync. It is worse if i play the video in higher resolutions or if i play it in full screen. By the end of a 15 minute video the audio will be out of sync by 5 to 10 seconds. Occasionally videos streamed from my server will go out of sync too but they seem to fix themselves where youtube just stays out of sync for the rest of the video. Im connected to a 1080p tv so its not like im pushing the hardware. This box is supposed to be capable of 4k.

I tried resetting the box using the reset function in the settings and deleting all data. It did improve the issue slightly but it definately still goes out of sync.

Did anyone actually buy the x8h-plus or was it only me? This forum seems super dead compared to when i owned a neo x5.

I dont know if all youtube videos are created equal but its usually when watching videos like this one

Going from 720p60fps to 480p30fps does make a difference not that i think it should considering the resolution. I am upscaling to 1080p for my new tv but my old 720p tv suffered the same issue

Anyone want to buy a lightly used minix neo x8h-plus? it works great at the resolutions I used to use in 1996 on my intel pentium 133mhz with 16mb ram :poop:.

just kidding, i used to run higher res back then, 800x600 on my 15" crt monitor!

What firmware are you on? I used to have various audio issues which were resolved by flashing the Lollipop firmware.

tl:dr - I am on the latest version of the official firmware and have been since it was released.

maybe I just have a device with faulty hardware? I have always kept the firmware updated using the ota update app, I regularly check for new versions as I had major problems with this device when I first got it, it used to lock up a couple times per day. it was only a couple weeks old when I first got it though so I wasn't surprised to see issues. geekbuying support had me replace the new power adapter with the old one from my neo-x5 when I e-mailed them about it, I wanted them to replace the device but they decided to see if they could get it working instead. I believe that actually fixed the problem at the time but it would still lock up maybe once every few days, but that slowly started to get better over time, maybe the updates fixed some of the reasons for the locking up. I think the last update was probably over a year ago now, I am assuming they have probably moved on to the newer devices and I wont see any more updates.

I would consider using a third party firmware if there were any good ones out there (open elec isn't really an option for me) as that worked out well for me with the neo-x5 which the community fixed by setting the cpu to run at 100% frequency all the time. the official firmware would allow the cpu to drop to lower frequency to save power, but it would cause videos to lag and everything to run like crap. I dont think minix ever adopted that fix in their official firmware either, but that was a long time ago so its hard to remember. eventually that box was starting to run like crap all the time which is why I got the top of the line neo x8-h plus to fix the problem.

I have also gone through several updates to the youtube app since I last posted, and they never seem to change the audio sync issue. the issue isn't just with youtube, I will get them with various other video players too, occasionally the whole thing will lock up on me and need to be unplugged to reset it.
