Hi,
can someone post some pics of this remote in dark environment to show how the backlit buttons look like?
Can't find anything online.

Mine are lasting considerably longer too, also many months like @JJ-KwiK but my W2 is used more as a multimedia remote with some occasional light typing.

Batteries & actual usage are obviously the two most common factors.

Are you typing a lot/non-stop essentially wake locking the remote in the process?

Batteries dead in 3 weeks
That is not normal and i think even with extreme use should last longer.

What you can do is replace the batteries with a better and new ones and debug the issue starting with the batteries.

In my opinion using Rechargeable batteries is not a good idea.
Use normal batteries and when the batteries are dead replace them.

When the remote control no longer works test the same batteries in another remote control or something similar to find how good the batteries are.

Check also if the remote control is on if you are not using (keys with the light on for example).

Hi "notrui"
Why?
Hi Reza-D.:)

Let me put this way:
-standard batteries are cheap
-rechargeable batteries don't work forever, they are more expensive and with time they will last less.
-To debug this problem i think it is better with standard batteries.

If the remote control (or other device) is good it will work well with standard batteries.

I used rechargeable batteries (not for remote control, not for a long time , it is not worth for me and i did not like) but now i only use standard batteries.

That is my opinion :)

I only use Duracell batteries.
Yes I do a lot of typing, that is the supposed purpose of this device... if I only needed a remote to do play/pause/forward/rewind I would not bought the W2.

Rechargeable batteries are more expensive than conventional batteries when you buy them. But in the long run, they cost less.
Normal batteries are suitable for regular remote control. But not for a Wi-Fi remote with keyboard.

I also use W2 (I wrote wrong ) A2 Lite a lot and although I use alkaline batteries, I replace batteries almost every one months (sometimes less often).
In my opinion, everything depends on the amount of use.

maybe a switch to disable backlit when not needed would have helped save batteries.
I don't think it's that easy to see the keys without the light!
We all need to memorise the keys for use with our eyes shut! :ROFLMAO:

I've used rechargeables for years.
The cost to recharge them I wouldn't have a clue?!

Some I've had for 6 years in use in MINIX remotes and they are just starting to fail!

Edit: 6 years and recharging!!! ;)

6 years x 12 months x 2 batteries per month = 144 batteries average each of us didn't dump in the world. ☘️??
There must be some good side to it. (considered heavy use of the remote getting 2 batteries per month)

0.75 euros for 2 alcaline= 9 euros p/year (7,56 sterling)

You can get good quality 800 mAh rechargeables for about 4 euros (3,36 sterling) a pack of 4. You should get 4 of them for the remote so when a set dies you are back to business in two minutes with the reserve set you kept pre charged.

A great quality home charger will cost around 17 euros (14,30 sterling)(my Sony BCG34HS2R) but it will allow to charge AAA as well as AA rechargeables, and it will last a lifetime.

@Skynet's La Crosse is a very good charger with digital viewing of the charging details and a 4 batteries bay. That device charges, discharges and gives you an accurate info about the condition of the battery. But it will cost 2 times more than the model I mentioned above which is a good quality basic thing for daily use if you are not concerned about battery tech details.

I mean.. if it's 12am or 2 pm i don't need backlit (unless I'm in a full dark room :) )

The AAA batteries I have are 1000mAh

Way to go, @Villa. But I think those cost probably more than I quoted above. I agree we should care to choose also quality above price. I just meant price might not be an issue nowadays as fairly good quality can be cheap, should we not aim for excel chracteristcs. I always cared for Sony or Panasonic for the cameras, but with the late aquisition of a new remote I got these ReCyko AAA 950mAh, which were in a promotion, 4 batteries - 9 euros.

So far they are performing so well that I hope to be back with the review in 6 years time. :)
