BBC Iplayer problem on U9-H

Oh no. Fired up the Minix tonight and the BBC iplayer v 4.94 is back to the forced update on launch. So I'm back to using Firefox with iPlayer website that doesn't quite fit on the screen ?

Play Store reviews for BBC iPlayer
Others, probably different devices too, have similar issues!

Got a response from the BBC iPlayer support company. Basically telling us a big load of tough luck. Go and buy a different device.

Quote below:

"It looks like you are using the mobile and tablet app with a set-top box. We are sorry to have to inform you that these types of devices are not supported for use with iPlayer. The list of supported TV devices is kept up-to-date here:

Sorry we could not be of more help at this time,"

I am getting some sort of satisfaction using the Firefox approach. I have completed the settings and "Home Page" shortcut that apart from the lack of rounded corners of the icon looks identical to the app icon. I have also uninstalled the iPlayer on the boxes despite the update capable of playing "Live" content, and so gearing people toward using the website access ... some have been confused and clicked on the upper most menu list only to find themselves on the BBC main website and not knowing their way back ... discovery learning is the best way, so hopeful of happiness. I would still like the Development team to find time to take a look, the iPlayer access is a crowd puller.

I've just ordered a Chromecast with Google TV. It won't fully replace the Minix but it will be handy when I need to have official support for iPlayer or Netflix or whatever else comes along.

I noticed something. A bit off topic. BBC iPlayer app and website have terrible pixelation on busy programmes like Strictly. You can hardly recognise who is who on Strictly at times. However if I use Kodi and video add-on for iplayer I get very nice crisp video without all the pixelation and artifacts and low bit rate issues.

Hello all I am running CE 712 Rom on a U9-H. When I start iPlayer v4.104.1.0.22484, it forces me to try to update. When I click update, I am taken to the play store and I get

Any work around? (Apart from using iPlayer in the browser)

Thanks in advance.

The last working version I had was V4.108

I will reinstall it and see what happens. I will let you know in due course!
Hi Villa, any chance you could post v4.108, so I can try it?
Update: Got v4.108 from apkure so I can try it myself.

Update: v4.108 didn't work, so I downloaded v4.111.0.22750 from apkpure (their latest version).
iPlayer now working as normal once more.

I have succeeded in downloading the latest edition of player. This is what happens when trying to run it. The video comes up on screen but will not run, the audio is OK and continues. The subtitles run on screen synced to audio. The live tv channels run OK. Any ideas how the video could be made to run

Download it.

Download what, i have the player downloaded.
I think he meant " download the programme you wish to watch ".
Have you tried clearing cache in the app and then data and signing back in. I trust you are using a Vpn server from UK. If you are in the UK, then obviously that is not necessary.

As this thread was started by you, you should be following it! ;)

Downloading the program you want to watch appears to work. (y)
Downloads in iPlayer haven't worked forever. Well now they do!

I just tried a downloaded episode and it plays well. Streaming though doesn't as you described. WTAA? (What's That All About?)

I have relatives with a U9-H that has CE FW001 Android 7. Afaik iPlayer is working just fine on that.
Or like I said, download the program and it plays fine!
