Bluetooth failed, then Windows Update, then everything...

My bluetooth intermittently stopped working. I noticed a few threads about Windows Updates, so I tried that. Not enough space, so it backed out, somewhat painfully. So I created an upgrade flash drive using the Microsoft tool and set that running. An hour later it flicked over from 0% to 1% so I went to bed. Woke up and it was trying to back out again, but this time it seems impossible to fix.

I am in the loop where the MINIX screen comes up telling me it is "Undoing changes made to you computer" and the white circle spins, and after a minute or so it restarts a few times and repeats.

I can no longer get to a windows screen, or into safe mode, or to a fabled "Startup Settings" screen. All of this has taken days of my life, and I am skipping plenty of parts. I have been able to get to a command prompt using a recovery flash drive but my bcd seems to be messed up, whatever that is.

I am lost as to what to do, and don't know if I can just reset the PC. Any advice would be appreciated.

And my advice to anyone even starting down the Windows Update path is avoid it if you can, but if you must, do anything you can to free up 10 GB on the hard drive and do it the normal way. Having my time again I would take my User folder and grab all the data and place it on an external drive to free up the room, update windows, and then put it back before your programs notice, ie before you run any of them.

Hi Sam,

In all likelihood you'll need a fresh install of Windows by the sounds of things.

(Always keep a back up of any important files to some kind of external device or cloud, from ANY system or device!!). Unfortunately, these things still inevitably happen. From your comments you'll certainly be better prepared for future updates etc. :).

Here's the link to the official MINIX 1903 Win 10 image for the Z83-4 Pro.....

Here's the link for installation instructions....

Hopefully you'll be back up & running in no time, shout if you need additional assistance :).

It has taken me ages to get back to this due to the fact that this little blip has causes so much work! I didn't really lose any data, just an entire setup of my Kodi software which is very finicky.

The rebuild all went smoothly and easily, it's just then the steps of setting Windows up again, then Kodi, then the skin I use (Andromeda) and all the little things. Still have to rewire the bluetooth Harmony remote to control Kodi properly.

This process has given me the chance to annotate all the steps and I'll probably write a how-to guide for the Kodi forums. All in all it's been a pain and again, if you need to update Windows, I really recommend making the space on the C: by any means possible.

Thanks ArcticWolf for the advice - prompt and apt.
