So I bought a new U9-H but am already having regrets. I used a U1 for a number of years but it seems outdated and i was having connection issues so i thought i would upgrade but it hardly seems like an upgrade when all the popular apps can't even be installed from the play store. am i wasting my time with minix? i can't install netflix or disney plus so what is the point? i should of just gotten a shield.

Research prior to purchase is always good practice, if Minix devices do not meet your needs then of course they are not for you. I'm just at a loss as to why you would buy the U9 now when the new flagship U22 is due for release in less than a month.

Regarding Disney+, I thought you had this working?
Just want to say thanks. I bought disney plus for the kids and then none of my devices work with it...but thanks to this forum I now have it running on my U1.

Yeah but now im getting connection problems with the U-1. Wifi always drops out and even when the minix says its connected to wifi, nothing works. This only happens on the minix. I thought buying the newer minix, i could just install apps from the play store without having to jump through hoops. I didn't know the U22 was coming out. I will probably return the U9 and try and figure out the connection problems on the U1..

Hi @jazon

The U1 and the U9-H are both great boxes.

The U22-XJ is, from what we read around, a powerful machine yet it was not officially launched and once that happens it might be subject to the public evaluation and probably require some retouching, as all new devices do. While the U9-H is very well known and decifered in this forum. As @Marty refered you should try to collect the most possible information regarding your tech purchases nowadays has the options for the devices are not universal. Each device will have pros and cons to your personal use. Some essentials for you won't matter to others. Since you mention Netflix, the yet to arrive U22-XJ will have a particular range of certifications and features, that will be superior to the box from the make you mentioned that makes graphics cards, yet it will not be Netflix certified.

I can assure you I got my U1 and U9-H completely stuffed with apps from the Playstore and they all work fine and update as for the next Android device. So I can't figure out what so popular apps were supposed to work in the U9-H that stopped working for any reason related to Minix.

I am almost sure your problem is your setup.

The problem is not going to disappear with a new device if your setup is not well configured.

With a new device you will have :
-faster device
-quicker to work
-newer android version, etc....

Streaming from internet is another thing and it will always be slower than local connection (NAS for example).

If you buy the new U22-XJ make sure you solve first your connections issues and wait for the official release of the device.

Well the thing is I have 2 Shields, 2 Android phones and 2 laptops all that never have the connection problems the minix has with wifi. Even when the minix says connected to wifi, nothing will work. the strange thing is once it is working, it continues to work as long as you are watching something. it won't drop out midway through a movie for example.

The problem is not in the amount of devices you have.
You are not going to connect all devices at the same time and if you connect you should monitor/control what you are doing to not affect the connection.

Minix should be working well in wifi (if you connection is well configured, good wifi signal ) and of course with RJ45.

Take a look at your configurations again, starting with your router.

You can try this first:
reset all devices, router and minix included.

A good wifi connection depends on many factors: (you can check this)
https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to...ireless-router-for-the-best-wi-fi-performance

You also can have problems with RJ45 if your setup is not well configured.

i basically use wifi for smartphones and the rest with RJ45.

If you put other devices away from the router (with weak connection) using wifi you will have problems as well.

Which firmware versions do you have on both the U1 & U9-H?

"Data, data, data!! One cannot make bricks without clay" ;). More info needed with regards to other factors too.
