Can I update T5 drives from Windows PC over the network? Help needed to access Minix T5 from Windows PC

Install on your T5 X plore file manager.

After installation you should be able to acess your network (copy, delete, etc) from T5 to PC and vice versa.
Yes, but you cant ( or I couldnt !) get access to the USB drive .over the LAN from a PC. If you can please advise how.
I've tried X-plore WiFi file sharing.
T5 Internal Storage, Micro SD Card in TF slot and USB HDD all showed up in browser on PC.
I could create new folders on the T5 Internal and SD but not the USB. and USB device (exFAT/FAT32).
I could copy files from PC to T5 Internal and SD but not the USB. and USB device (exFAT/FAT32).
I could not copy files from T5 to PC.

Edit:
Writing to USB issue was due to the USB device being NTFS. Reformat to exFAT (or FAT32) allows writing! (y)

NB: X-plore has this message - Allow X-plore to access <name of device>?

Select CANCEL.
NOT OK

If you select OK - up pops, No supported partition was found, rendering the USB device useless until a reboot.

Only workaround i can think off at the moment is to transfer to the device download folder and then use a file manager on the T5 to move across to the usb drive.
I can't get any write access to USB HDD attached to T5.
And before anyone asks, yes I have made sure permissions to access Storage are enabled. :)

Edit:
T5 does NOT like NTFS. :(
USB device changed to exFAT :)

Villa sorry I missed your previous posts before I wrote the above answer.

I don't need to copy from the T5 to the PC, just from the PC to the T5.

X-plore WiFi. I don't normally have WiFi running as I don't need it as my house is cabled. Do I need WiFi running to transfer files from PC to T5 using X-plore WiFi?

If it is just a case of copying files from PC to the T5 then I recommend "Send Files To TV", this is very easy to use and is cross platform:
https://sendfilestotv.app/
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yablio.sendfilestotv&hl=en
PC: https://sourceforge.net/projects/se...sendfilestotv-0.5-windows-x86_64.exe/download

Edit: for info I use this over LAN but it works equally well with WiFi and also between LAN and WiFi.

Does this work with the T5 and able to copy to USB devices?

Yes works on the T5 and nope, copies to the download folder, hence "If it is just a case of copying files from PC to the T5"
Sounds great but I want to transfer directly to the USB drive. Anything I add to the USB drive I want to do from my PC. I don't want to have to access the Minix.

Read my post above. You can I believe but I could not test!

Anyway don't bother wasting you time with that or X-plore!!!
I've tried FX File Explorer with it's Web Access feature and it is the best option I have found. Much neater layout than X-plore.

For Web Access you will need to have the paid version but there is a 7-day trial available.

You will need to use exFAT NOT NTFS.

Ok will give FX File Explorer a try. Is this app available for Android TV? Why i ask is after all my fiddling I can't seem to find where to download apps. I can see downloaded apps but don't see where to get new apps. I think I will have to reset the T5.

It sure is, hit the red circle on the top left and look for Play Store in all your apps:

Thanks Marty. Yep found the Play Store app.

Villa: I installed the paid version FX Plus and seems to work ok.
Started Web Access and using Chrome on my PC I was able to transfer a movie to the T5 Movie folder and then played it on the T5.
I then formatted a USB stick as exFat and put a couple of files on it and played them on the T5.
From Chrome on my PC I could see the USB stick.
I tried to copy a file to the stick and at the end of the copy got message "The operation could not be performed"1f17a4c0b96fbed733df8bdf285f228d.png

Have you allowed write permission in FX ?

I had given the USB drive write access but that didn't help at the time, maybe because it needed a restart.

What was strange (to me :) ) was the FX display. Below is the display before plugging in the USB drive 20200610_162958.jpg

Below is display after plugging in USB drive.20200610_163033.jpg

If I click on USB drive I get the following error message 20200610_163147.jpg

If I click on Media card it displays what is on the USB drive and I can play the videos.

I restarted the T5 and re-entered login details into Chrome and voila, I was able to copy files via Chrome on the PC to the USB drive. And I was able to go into Kodi and play the videos.

My only dislike is every time I wish to add files to the USB drive on the T5 from my PC, I need to make sure Web Access is fired up in FX. The T5 powers down when not used for a certain time. If left on I could access it anytime as Web Access would still be up.

Is there a way to keep the T5 powered up? My previous X8-H-Plus was permanently on and had no problems.

Thanks very much for your help Villa, very much appreciated.
