Guys, before I say this I want everyone to know that what I'm about to say has nothing whatsoever to do with the guys in this forum like Skynet who is busting his butt to try to help us all out, he is one hell of guy for trying to help us all, and he should be applauded for his kindness. No, this is about MINIX, I'd like to know how you people believe that you can sell us a really great box like the U9-H and then just walk away from the firmware. What part do you guys at Minix corporate not understand that when we pay anywhere from $130.00 to 180.00 depending on if you hit a sale or not and then just abandon the box and let us all go through hell trying to get it upgraded??? You know what, I PERSONALLY WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER MINIX BOX. Just take a look at the NVIDIA box, it's not much better in my opinion then than the Minix box, with one exception, NVIDIA keeps working on their firmware, they continue to upgrade from 6 to 7 to 8 to 9 while Minix does NOTHING and yet you're introducing new models, good luck wtih that, I used to recommend Minix and now I tell people to stay the hell away from Minix because they don't support you, they sell you the box, and then they are done with you. Well as of today, I'M OFFICIALLY DONE WITH MINIX!!!!
Do you have an NVDIA?

I have the original from 2015 and yes it now has Android 9 but every time there has been an update/upgrade something goes wrong!

because I've had my fill of Android TV
NVDIA has Android TV

This is exactly the reason why I refuse to buy a Nvidia Shield! Sure the Shield gets new updates on a regular basis, but everytime it gets updated, the Shield is worse before the update. The other issue I have with Nvidia is,they cater to the sponsors first, the consumers second.

The Shield is so plagued with firmware issues, users have unplugged them, put them away and went back to using Firesticks and China boxes, both which operate much better without issues vs the Shield.I lurked the official Nvidia Shield forum for over a year and seen my fare share of countless fustrations/anger from users who are sick of how Nvidia cannot fix things.

I can't even be bothered resetting the thing!

To bad you are done with minix, but minix did not walk away. Our Dev Team (@KAR, @gufone and @rmestrum ) are close working with minix to create a new FW for the U9.
It will stay with the 7.1.2 release as the Chip Manufacturer does not Support an Higher version so impossible for Minix to Support Android Higher then 7.1.2. So have fun with Nvidia hope you will have a much better experience!

And btw it looks your shift key is having troubles ;)

KAR

Before I respond are you a Minix employee or just a dev running the forum, it makes a difference to how I respond

So if the Minix employees are "MINIX staff are @MINIX - John & @MINIX – Martin" then "(@KAR, @gufone and @rmestrum" are not Minix employee's is that correct? If that is correct read the first part of my post again, I specifically said that my post had absolutely nothing to the DEV donating their time and effort, in fact it said just the opposite, that they should be applauded, but the only one I've interacted with is Skynet, who has been in fact wonderful. So if you aren't an employee of Minix then nothing I said applied to you, it applied only to Minix Corp. That being said the smart ass response from KAR was not appropriate. I have 6 of these boxes, and one of the Minix U8-H that is still in service, so I think I qualfy as a good customer and don't need to listen to KAR's crap answer.

I've spent the last two weeks trying to get every ROM I could find on Android 7.1.2 to run and none of them work well, primarily in my opinion, because the engineers at Minix are not suporting them or the people trying to help and that isn't appropriate and any level when all of us paid allof of money for these boxes but the level of support is less then a cheap Chinese box you can buy on Amazon, which BTW some you can but prerooted.

Now, that being said if you guys want to take what I said personally, well then that's your choice, but it was NOT intended for the members of this forum. If you want to help, give me a telephone number or a way to talk to Minix Corp and I'll gladly do so, but as far as I know this is the only outlet for customers to talk to Minix, which BTW, I agree isn't the place to do this but I haven't seen any other way to get through to Minix itself, and I'm tired of sitting here day after day to get these boxes to work, especially considering my friends and family who I recommended for them to buy having the same issues. The only people that should be offended by anything I said would be Minix employee's, and actually, now, that I think about even they shouldn't be offended since they aren't making the decisions to ignore the firmware problems. I'll be glad to go away but no Dev is going to give me a bunch crap when everything I've said it true. I do in fact applaud those Devs doing this out of the goodness of your hearts, but my point is, they shouldn't have to be donating their time and effort to complete task that rightfully Minix should be doing and paying for, these aren't 29 dollar Chinese boxes. If Minix wants to be in the top tier then they need to act that way.

I'm sorry Villa, I personally apologize to you, I know your working hard and you shouldn't have to hear my frustration, but there is a lot of frustration, and while I appreciate what you do, there should be a MInix forum run my Minix corp, not a couple of good guys just trying to help, so yes, I apologize to you and I won't post again, Sorry.

Mine works perfect. Perhaps it's a PEBKAC issue.

I have been using this firmware for over a month
Very stable and reliable
Didn't try connecting Bluetooth headset yet tho

My only complaint is that I failed to set a static IP to the LAN connected device
I kept looking for the feature in the settings page but with no luck

Hi.
It is a very stable device indeed.
If you can set static ip on your router and not on your minix.

Hello Kar love all the hard work and great info you guys give. Just wondering if you could give a hint as to how far out the final release will be? Thank you again for the great job you all do.
