Yes this is possible if you set the static IP in the range for the dhcp server. But I have now set the Minix static IP out of the range for dhcp server. Eg. Dhcp range from192.168.1.10 - 192.168.1.70. and I have set the static IP to 192.168.1.71.
Then you don’t have any conflicts.
Is possible to have static ip in both devices:
Minix and router for example but is not the best way and you have only to do in one device , it saves time and work.

I have many devices and i have only one device (second router) that uses static ip reservation however my main router also is in dhcp server but not with static ip reservation.

In this way i never have problems (both routers connected by rj45).

I use this practice too. I have a couple of older devices that are a sod to reliably configure on the network so I also reserve a set number of IP's for the DHCP pool & the remainder can be assigned for static reservation as required :).

Whatever works best subjectively at the end of the day :).

Yesterday I set a static IP on the router to the Minix MAC adress. It seems to work yesterday when It got to sleep mode and I wake it up again. But this morning I missed the Internet connection again after I wake it up.
I have now set the static IP adress on the Minix, and cross my fingers for an internet connection tomorrow morning when I wake it up again.
Thank you everyone. The network connection was ok this morning?

Unzip and flash the ROM with the USB Burning Tool. We will not explain how to do it to prevent unaware people to install unstable ROM on their device.

Public Beta 1 [64 bits]

If you need a rooted device, please install the Magisk Framework Package for your exact version of the ROM (when available) and then the Magisk Manager App.

The Magisk framework (patched boot.img for root) is not supported and tend to freeze the system. Please report bugs only for the standard ROM.

Hi, sorry but it begin to be a bit too much support ,can you start a new thread regarding this ? is it beginning to take a direction way too much away of the origin of this post such as the Community Edition ROM for Neo U9-H

thanks

hi
i did exactly the steps
and still no identification, is there another way to upgrade the ROM?

Since no one is there with you to validate, let me just share with you that I had the same issue you're having and it had nothing to do with the steps that are outlined in Oreng80's post. He's absolutely correct when he says those are the proper steps, here's the one thing he and a lot of people never think about. No where in the instructions does it say that when you open you Minix box the first time that the USB cable included in the package is perhaps one of the most important parts of the package. The reason why is it the OTG cable and its a DATA cable. Some like myself misplace it or lose it and realize the OTG port on the Minix is just another Micro USB port, so they pick up any USB cable with a normal USB on one side and a Micro USB on the other end and plug it into the box and the computer. Then when they open the burning tool the computer can't see the Minix. In my case, and almost everyone else that I've come across with this issue it's because most of the time they are using a USB cable designed to charge devices of one kind or another, IT WON'T WORK. You MUST have a Micro_USB cable that is a data cable. In my case I had several Micro_USB cables I used to install custom Rom's on an HTC 10 smartphone that I used to have, so I tried that cable and I'll bet you can figure out the rest. If you said "I'll bet that worked", you'd be 110% correct. Any Micro_USB cable that you used to not only charge, but transfer data to a smartphone will work with the Minix U9-H. I know it probably sounds a bit nutty but I promise you that not all Micro_USB cables are built the same and a cable designed to charge some or any device will keep your computer from seeing your Minix U9-H. Obviously I can't possibly know for sure if this is your issue, but were I you I'd sure find a Micro_USB cable that I KNEW FOR A FACT is one that transfers data, and then I'd repeat the steps outlined in posts above this. I hope this helps you, I know if someone had posted this somewhere for me I would have saved myself days of aggravation, so all I can tell you is give it a try.

I only have one question about the community rom, is this rom intended to be full android or is it intended to be Android TV. I'm only asking because I've had my fill of Android TV, I didn't pay for all those apps so that I could later not have access to them. I'm not sure what Google had in mind with Android TV but if I can't use the Play Store then they can keep it. Anyway any mods around that could answer the question I'd appreciate it because I don't want to even try the community rom if its another ATV.

We can't bring custom Android TV roms because Minix is discussing with Google to get a full Android TV agrement.

It's not just a "data" cable that's required.

More specifically, the micro-USB cables supplied with MINIX products have a 6mm micro-USB connector, (whereas the average cheap micro-USB cable have 4mm connectors).

If you've lost your original MINIX cables a company called Volutz produce high quality data cables with 6mm connectors should you need to source one :). (I'm sure there will be other brands too, I just use a lot of the braided Volutz cables as they literally last for years & they work fine for flashing ROMs :).)

Thanks Skynet, actually I'm happy as can be that the community rom is NOT an Android TV Rom. I've flashed 3 or 4 of them on my box and while the GUI is pretty, the fact that you can't use the Google Play Store fully is a non-starter for me. The reason I asked the question is because I'm running and ATV rom by SuperCeleron which is pretty nice, but again the limitaion just make me crazy. I offer the explanation, and I could be totally wrong about this, but I got the feeling that you thought it was negative for the "Community Rom" and I think it's a totally POSITIVE++++ for me. Until Google gives Android TV full use of the Play Store I won't use them again, if feels way too limiting and too much control ceeded to Google. I know all these manuifacturers think we all buy our smartphones and TV boxes but that they should still be able to tell us how to use them, for me that a bridge too far. Anyway that's why I asked and now I'm going to flash the Community Rom.

BTW, I don't mind using the USB BT but I really love the SDCard burner, will this Rom be OK using it? Either way is fine, I was just curious.

Thanks for you help Skynet,
Krissy

Hi Krissy and welcome here ☺.
Usb burning tool is the recommended procedure.
Dont forget to do a backup first .

I've never had an issue using a shorter connector! :)

Here in Spain we have what we call "Chinese shops" and they sell a wide variety of USB stuff. A lot of the micro USB cables have longer connectors.
The problem is knowing whether it is a Data type or Charger type even though it usually says on the packaging!

Precisely, regardless of any other factor obviously it must be a data cable but even with certified data cables it seems to be a bit of a lottery.

I have several official Samsung, Acer & Sony data cables & the only one that does work is the Acer (although it doesn't have the longer connector either). Even then the Acer cable is hit & miss. An Amazon basics data won't work either.

The Volutz's work fine but like you I also had some cheaper generic braided data cables that worked too (until I bent them to death).

Subject to the OTG port itself being damaged, the OP just needs to try more data cables :).

Guys, before I say this I want everyone to know that what I'm about to say has nothing whatsoever to do with the guys in this forum like Skynet who is busting his butt to try to help us all out, he is one hell of guy for trying to help us all, and he should be applauded for his kindness. No, this is about MINIX, I'd like to know how you people believe that you can sell us a really great box like the U9-H and then just walk away from the firmware. What part do you guys at Minix corporate not understand that when we pay anywhere from $130.00 to 180.00 depending on if you hit a sale or not and then just abandon the box and let us all go through hell trying to get it upgraded??? You know what, I PERSONALLY WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER MINIX BOX. Just take a look at the NVIDIA box, it's not much better in my opinion then than the Minix box, with one exception, NVIDIA keeps working on their firmware, they continue to upgrade from 6 to 7 to 8 to 9 while Minix does NOTHING and yet you're introducing new models, good luck wtih that, I used to recommend Minix and now I tell people to stay the hell away from Minix because they don't support you, they sell you the box, and then they are done with you. Well as of today, I'M OFFICIALLY DONE WITH MINIX!!!!

To bad you are done with minix, but minix did not walk away. Our Dev Team (@KAR, @gufone and @rmestrum ) are close working with minix to create a new FW for the U9.
It will stay with the 7.1.2 release as the Chip Manufacturer does not Support an Higher version so impossible for Minix to Support Android Higher then 7.1.2. So have fun with Nvidia hope you will have a much better experience!

And btw it looks your shift key is having troubles ;)
