Connect Kodi to windows 10 shares

#1
I am trying to connect my minix u9-h to my windows shares on my win10 computer but cannot get past the user password screen. I can browse to the workgroup name and the folders but when I try to open any of the folders I get the username password screen. I have entered the username and password of the win10 computer but kodi cannot connect and I cannot get past that screen. Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong or not doing? Thanks.

I've repeatedly had problems with Kodi's zero config/browsing to SMB shares.

NFS & DLNA work fine but SMB can be a pain. Enter the SMB path, user & pass manually, & they then connect straight away, however ;).

I finally gave up and solved my issue by connecting the share as NAS on my router. Fortunately my router has that capability so this is not the cleanest solution if your router does not support it but smb has given me no end of trouble.

Not ideal but if your router has the option & it works well, problem solved :).

Best option is to buy or build a dedicated NAS anyway TBH ;).
