Controlling a Windows 10-based MiniX

I apologize if this is a stupid question, but I am wondering.......

I have had a Neo X8-H Plus for many years and am pleased with it - with one exception. Yes, I can connect to my network just fine and play video either WiFi or Ethernet. But I miss the ability to actually see the MiniX from my computer as part of the network, manage files on it remotely, load files to it remotely, etc.

I have lately been thinking about a Windows miniPC version of the MiniX, but... how the heck you you control it? My Neo X8 has a nice remote that does everything for me. What about... say the J50C? Need a mouse and keyboard ?

but i believe you can by enabling SAMBA on the minix and then mapping the drive in your PC

Hi, I use the J50C-4 and using it to reply to you. I use a wireless keyboard and mouse, nothing special a modest priced Logitech and it does everything necessary to control the J50C, apart from turn it on, but that is simple enough ... press the micro switch on the side of the case ..

You should be able to control via remote desktop, sharing folders, etc.

Disable antivírus/firewall (if you have issues) and use private connection.

If your setup/configuration is well you only need one mouse/keyboard to control everything (other devices).

With a mobile device (android for example) you can control other devices (windows for example) with just your phone (check for microsoft remote desktop app and x-plore).

Of course i advice you to connect a mouse and keyboard directly to J50C-4 (for example) for the first setup and if you have issues in the future.

You can even use WOL (wake on lan ) to wake up the devices remotely from sleep/shutdown state (without the need of pressing power button)

Microsoft pulled "Homegroup" entirely way back with Win 10 1803. Agreed, the general concept for configuring a Windows network is the same for those that understand it. However, that particular guide may confuse some first time users who have never attempted basic networking before to try & follow an older guide that won't match what they'll actually be seeing with later versions of Win 10 ;)!!

(Really need to point them towards something more recent ;).)

I just use a MINIX Neo W2 remote for controlling multimedia apps in Windows, & a very basic Logitech K400+ wireless keyboard/mouse for general admin/word/etc.

Whichever method or makes/models you'd prefer yourself :). The mini PC's are highly versatile devices :).
