Coreelec AUDIO issue

Currently running Coreelec 9.2.7 internally on my U22. This issue effects audio files only (as far as I can tell). It is also only FLAC files related.

1: I have numerous videos (especially old ones) with FLAC audio tracks. These play without issue.
2: Recently I tried to play some audio only files which were FLAC encoded and have the .FLAC extension. The Kodi file browser would not even list the files, hence no file could be selected for playback.
3: Yes, the audio files are just fine and playback without issue on my computer.

Anyone have any idea what is going on here and any ideas on a solution?

Thank you.

I just tried to play some flac encoded content, both by adding to the library and by using the file-manager. Multiple flac files played with out issues both ways. So this does work with default out of the box settings, so it's just a matter of determining what is different for you.

It's possible that it's the container format that is the issue.
As suggested by @Skynet a short sample of a file that doesn't work would be helpful.

Thanks for all the input here but the OP is stating that it is only the audio files (music presumably) that are the problem, .flac is the container as it is a Free Lossless Audio Codec File.....

I will rip one of my CD's in .flac and do some testing on the U22 with CoreElec when I have a chance, will let you know (y)

Sounds like a library rescan would be the first thing to try. Coreelec is seeing (and playing) my .FLAC extension audio files just fine if that is any help.

Hi,

What kind of video container is it ? Mkv ? Mp4 ?

Can you send us a small file to test ?

(I never had a video with Flac audio  )

I have a lot. Mainly older movies. Anyway, the FLAC audio on a movie works fine, no issues at all.

SOLVED

Ok this is really a silly thing. First it appears that if you are in VIDEO, the ONLY thing the file manager sees is video files. It ignores audio files, such as mp3, flac, etc. Maybe there is a way of allowing it to see everything. I'll have to look into that.

I have Kodi set up to start in VIDEO, as all I ever do is use my U22 to watch ripped videos. I do listen to a lot of music, but it's all video concerts, never plain audio files, until now.

I renamed a few of the flac files to mkv. Guess what, the file manager saw them and they played fine (no video obviously, but also no issues).

In my Kodi setup I have told it to not show anything OTHER than VIDEO. So I changed that to also show MUSIC. And viola, when in MUSIC, the flac files are listed and play fine.

As I said, this is a really silly thing. But solved now.

I would like to thank everyone who replied. If nothing else, maybe others can learn from my experience.
