Just a small note to point out that the legacy 9.2.x builds of CoreELEC with the older Kodi 18.9 will still be made available for devices that can't be upgraded to the next major version of CoreELEC and for users who might not want to upgrade to Matrix right away. https://coreelec.org/legacy/

9.2.x builds won't see new features, but will still see some maintenance(some bug fixes and security updates) when possible.

CoreELEC 9 (Leia) End of Life Announcement
The CoreELEC Development and Product Support Team has, after long deliberation, decided to actively discontinue product support for the CoreELEC 9 (Leia) development cycle on:

  • DECEMBER 31 2021 - 24:00 UTC
After this date, Team CoreELEC will no longer provide technical support, bug fixes, or security updates for its Legacy build.

What is an End of Life Announcement?
For various reasons, products will eventually reach their natural End-of-Life. Reasons include newer and better technologies being made available, marketplace changes, or source parts and technologies no longer being available. This process is part of any technology product lifecycle.

Team CoreELEC tries to make the process as seamless as possible for end-users and partners alike, while providing visibility into what can be expected.

Why is this happening?
As content providers drop support for older hardware and software by upgrading their content management systems, our developers have to overcome increasingly complex and time consuming challenges to make these new technologies work with software and hardware that has become obsolete, incompatible, or underpowered to handle these newer technologies adequately.

Migration information
This End of Life Announcement affects all GXBB (S905) and GXM (S912) based devices.

Considering the relatively low cost of generation 2 and 3 of the Amlogic S9 family devices, Team CoreELEC recommends upgrading to hardware supporting CoreELEC 19 (Matrix).

Team CoreELEC provides no support for devices running banned addons.

Hey Good afternoon please someone tell me that this xbmc-derived player works on the old Minix neo x5mini I have this box unused since I did a google update where almost everything stopped working. From what I've been reading on the net, all android boxes below 5 will be stopped despite working.

I believe there are many people in this situation.

Yes, maybe you sould install older Coreelec version, or even LibreElec

thanks
I don't know where to start because I'm new to these things I've already searched on 2 sites, coreelec and openelec but I can't find any version with the name of my minix will you be able to point me more or less in a direction to follow?

i know the minix x5mini has these specifications
https://www.minix.us/products/NEOX5mini.html
Processor Rockchip RK3066 Dual-Core Cortex A9 Processor (1.6GHz) GPU Quad-Core Mali 400. memory 1GB DDR3 Internal Storage 8GB NAND Flash Wireless Connectivity 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi YOU Android Jelly Bean 4.2
and from what I realized when installing one of these versions core or open elec is without the android right?

and from what I could see, it's not possible to install an android 5, and with a core or open elec the minix looks like an old xbmc livecd that I used years ago in an htpc that had only as a media player but it didn't have any OS installed.
it was just the xbmc that pulled from a pendrive am I getting it right?

sorry so many questions?

but I had minix with official xbmc-minix as player (plexbmc) for my plex media server
and now we are left without player device in the living room
and if you can help me, I would appreciate it.
sorry my english
