CoreELEC - MINIX U9-H

absolutely, and CE is based on a minimal linux OS distribtion running the linux version of Kodi..

i was only trying to help with a suggestion for running Kodi on Android and for you not to have to see the android startup home screen ....

the choice is entirely yours in which way you want to proceed.....
Sorry! I really really appreciate your suggestion! Thanks!

Cannot get subtitles to work with Real Debrid movies.
I tried with addons Maverick Tv and also Supremacy (for example).
I have Subscene and also Opensubtitles.org services installed, no joy.
Subtitles work with "normal" movie streams , Exodus, supremacy, etc..
Strange....

Update: I managed to get the subtitles to appear by changing the settings/player/language/ subtitle option from "FIXED" to "above" (or below) the video.
Subtitles are still a bit cut off so had to slightly adjust the video calibration settings.
There does not seem to be a setting or adjustment for the height position of the subtitles (move slightly up or down?)

Yes, that's what I did in the end, but video calibration alters the picture "aspect ratio" at the same time , so not the ideal solution, but a compromise I suppose..
You can adjust the position (raise or lower) the subtitles bar without changing the aspect ratio...read the onscreen instuctions when you have the subtitles bar showing

I just realized that there should be a white bar at the bottom of the screen in the "video calibration" setting, so that you can adjust the position of the subtitles. The bar is there on Leia RC4 for windows on my PC, but it's not there on Coreelec on the minix, ..

Update: Ok..., finally sorted out the problem, the subtitle bar is there (in "video calibration"setting), but was not visible because it is off the bottom of the screen.
It is not reachable with the remote control "mouse", but if you hover at the bottom of the screen (with the mouse pointer) the subtitle position caption becomes active and you can move the subtitle position "up" with the arrow keys on the remote control...
NB: the subtitle position only works with the "fixed" subtitle position in the main settings (player settings), does not work if you select "below video" position, or above, etc...

You only need to hold the Minix on button for x seconds the FIRST time you start up CoreELEC after making the SD Card. After that first boot, the U9-H will boot CoreELEC on startup automatically, assuming the SD Card is plugged into the U9-H. To boot into android, just remove the SD Card.

My personal experience is that there are much fewer playback issues with CoreELEC than with the Minix android. LibreELEC is not as issue free as CoreELEC, but still way better than Minix android. That's with my video files, of course.

Anyone having issues with playing trailers on coreelec?

There is a reason why CE has disabled this function, but you can enable the harmony if you want

CE forum:
We haven’t removed the remote maps, we just had to disable them by default, that is why running 1 command gets them working again permanently.
We had to do this as a result of unifying the builds, CoreELEC was taken from 6 different update tars, which took hours to build each one, down to 2, so it has made life much easier for the developers.
Unfortunately the remote codes of the aforementioned devices conflicted with the Khadas remote maps so they had to be disabled by default.

read post #53 and #54 how to enable this

I have problems with Coreelec (with Standard Definition films in 420 had a lot of judder ans it's impossible to watch)
I have the standard settings in Kodi (including display refresh rate activate to start/stop video) that run perfectly in libreELEC
Does anyone know why?
Sony KD55XF9005
Logitech Harmony 700
Thanks a lot

Have anyone the same problem playing SD files (avi , etc) in CoreELEC?

hi everybody,
with the last CoreElec Release 8.95.7, when i watch movies every few seconds I have instant video stuttering with all kind of videos. Like skipping few frames of the movie. I have auto frame rate on at kodi settings. When I use Libreelec everything is alright.
Do you have the same experience and do you know why?

At this moment CE 8.95.7 is at Kodi 18 rc5

More details on the update on github (see comments)
- kodi (Generic): update to kodi-18.0rc5.2-Leia
https://github.com/CoreELEC/CoreELEC/compare/8.95.7...master

Basically with default options all video files with a NAS connected are playing flawless for me.

Just a note for playback problems on CE it should be reported on CE forum.
https://discourse.coreelec.org/

They are very active there and willing to help or instantly make a fix that they will implant in the next version.
