CoreELEC - MINIX U9-H

When I was using Libreelec with Krypton on my U9-H my universal remote was very snappy, no input lag at all. Now that i've installed Coreelec the remote delay is horrible.. I've SSH'd into the device and played with the settings and have made it a bit better, but it still is nowhere near as quick as it was on Libreelec.. Is this a driver issue? I've set ir-ctl -t 20000 but anything lower than that the remote becomes complete unresponsive. Is this something being looked into or is it just the nature of the beast?

I had some problems with my harmony and made the the config myself.
You need also log into ssh and push all buttons you need then save it into a file.

see my post on page 3
https://theminixforum.com/index.php?threads/coreelec-minix-u9-h.261/page-3

CE had to disable some remote's see maybe it's related to your problem.
CE forum:
We haven’t removed the remote maps, we just had to disable them by default, that is why running 1 command gets them working again permanently.
We had to do this as a result of unifying the builds, CoreELEC was taken from 6 different update tars, which took hours to build each one, down to 2, so it has made life much easier for the developers.

Otherwise report on the CE forum maybe they have a solution

Does building the file yourself help with the latency? The remote works, its just slow to respond to button pushes

I don't know how the original works or how the latency was because the first time I pushed a button I found out it did not work at all. Direct after this I went to the procedure to make my own config of the harmony.

Speaking of remote keypresses, is there somewhere I can find the keycodes and how to edit them?
I am using the A2 Lite remote.

Hello everybody,

I am quite confused with some instructions here, where suggested to rename gxm_q200_2g_minix_neo_u9.dts to dtb.img:
dtb.img and dtb -> it is compiled dts file (source for dtb).
On this page https://github.com/CoreELEC/device-trees-amlogic stated:
The dts files here must be compiled to dtb format for use. It is not possible to use/test them on SD cards or USB drives without compiling.

Could somebody clear it up to me - why renaming dts file to dtb file works?
Thank you in advance!

Coreelec doesn't have kodi 17.6
I run latest RC2 it's good to use.

You need to clone download the entire tree directory als zip.
Select [ clone or donwload ] then select als .zip. In zip file you find all device-trees you need pick the u-9
Or download the .tar file.
Use it to write kodi on SD /USB and also when you unzip this the device tree is in it. (this one I used and it works)

Read the install instructions on first page

Short CoreELEC installation tutorial (for advanced user only)

  • Download Rufus (https://rufus.akeo.ie/)
  • Download last *.img.gz CoreELEC release S912 Soc (https://github.com/CoreELEC/CoreELEC/releases)
  • Download S912 dtb file (https://github.com/CoreELEC/device-trees-amlogic). For Minix U9-H : gxm_q200_2g_minix_neo_u9.dts
  • Format an microSD card with FAT32 filesystem.
  • Create with Rufus an bootable card with *.img.gz image file. When it’s done, copy/paste .dts file to SD root and rename it dtb.img.
  • Turn off your Minix U9-H. Insert SD card, Plug power cord while pressing power button for several seconds until CoreELEC boot screen appears. It will reboot once and it’s done!
  • Now you have two choices :
    • You can stay on external/SD card installation : every time you’re booting, you have to do the power button trick to boot CoreELEC from your SD card or standard Android MINIX OS will start. It’s the safest way.
    • You can install it on internal NAND : log on your box with SSH (Putty for example) and type installtointernal. Reboot when asked. If you have a corrupted systemfile message on boot : turn off, boot from SDcard (hold power button) and install to internal once again. It should solve the problem. Do this only if you know what your’re doing !!

Maybe you should read this before : https://discourse.coreelec.org/t/which-dtb-do-i-use/389

I loaded up 8.99.1 last night and gave it a try. Unfortunately it was playing some video files and froze mid way through. Rebooted and tried playing another file. It also froze mid way. So now I am back running 8.95.7. At least it's stable.

I see today there is 8.99.1.1 out now. A bit hesitant to give it a try immediately. Maybe I'll wait a week or so.

Just installed the newest version. All is good.. the remote has become much more responsive. Only issue I have now is that the remote will not repeat on holding down a button. I opened the remote.config file and enabled repeat, but it has no effect

Hi,

Just installed CoreELEC on a USB stick and I'd like to say a big thank you to the developpers and the community for helping unleash the full potential of my hardware: I can now take advantage of the full HDMI bandwidth with the highest chroma when watching UHD 60 fps HDR footage.

Via Android, my HDFury Vertex splitter reported a 371MHz frequency usage and it is now up to a calculated 593 of the 600MHz maximum bandwidth of the HDMI 2.0 protocol and HDR looks even more fabulous!

I'd like to point out that the latest release does not require gxm_q200_2g_minix_neo_u9.dtb to be renamed and placed at the root of the memory card/USB drive, since it's already included... the 2 image creation methods at the begining of this thread should be updated to reflect this.

Regards,

W.

Hello:
I am testing 8.99.2, and my remote control doesn`t work (Harmony 700, but only the keys that i copied from IR Minix, the TV keys works OK, so the only remote that doesn't work is Minix, yamaha works ok too)
I have read an option that said "simply copy your Krypton remote.conf (from libreelec) to the COREELEC partition of your SD card / USB flash drive or to /storage/.config/remote.conf and reboot. "
Do you know where is the file remote.conf in libreelec and how can i copy to Coreelec? I can't found it...
I have read this link, but my level is not enough to understand what to do
https://discourse.coreelec.org/t/krypton-style-ir-remote-configuration-is-back/3195
In libreelec my remote works ok
All the files that i have playing was OK (4K with HDR, HD 1080/24, SD 720) with the same configuration that i have in libreelec
Thanks,

MINIX NEO U9-H default IR Remote

MINIX NEO U9-H default IR Remote.jpg

1) Download remota.rar
2) Plug-in your device via Samba or alternative
3) Unrar "remote.rar" and you can see "remote.conf"
4) Now simply copy "remote.conf" to the COREELEC partition of your SD card / USB flash drive or to /storage/Configfiles/ and reboot.
