CoreELEC - MINIX U9-H

The washed out color has nothing to do with my tv settings. The very same TV has a superb color when playing bluray movies, however when playing all 4k movies, the color is like washed out. No problem at all with Netflix 4k.

Well, you may be right, but it was just something to look at. I know those Picture Profiles in the modern TVs can and do effect the color a lot.
On my TV (Samsung Series 8) HDR movies are usually quite dark, but the color is ok.

Have you used something like MediaInfo to see what the specs for the file are. especially compared to a file that does show properly. You might find some clues there.

I really dont see any need to run Corelec or similar on the U9-H to be honest.

My prime reason for going this route was previous experience taught me that for a number of reasons, most importantly having to do with stutters and buffering, I prefer to play files over the network from a file server as opposed to having a streaming server. This requires connecting to samba shares which I had understood to not be readily available from Android systems.

Hi,

I'm new to CoreElec, on Minix Neo U9-H, does it offer a more speedier interface for Kodi ?

thanks

Regis

I couldn't really comment on the relative speed between the two because my primary Android experience is with a FireStick and the U9-H would doubtless offer much improved performance. That said I prefer a Linux based system as I know Linux well and find control of network devices much easier and as mentioned above access of network shares is not possible in current Android distributions. CoreElec is simply a stripped down Linux platform with only the drivers/resources necessary for playing video and basic operating system functions like file management and networking.

I would also say that the setup steps to get audio to my surround and video to my TV over the HDMI as well as connecting to network storage was a breeze with CoreElec where it had been like pulling teeth with pliers in my previous experiences with other systems/boxes.

If ALL you want is a player (Kodi) then I would highly recommend giving CoreElec a try - you can just install on an SD card and use without overwriting the Android system installed on the U9-H internal flash. I am still using my CoreElec that way with no perceived performance problems.

If all you want is Kodi Give it a try.
You can use as dual boot machine.
If you use sd card it boots OS in CoreElec.
If you remove sd card it boots OS in normal android.

Check this:

Follow the tutorial (for u9-h device) :

I said this but i never tried, i just watched youtube videos and i know how it works :)

As @notrui2 and @klapa said, give it a try. It's really easy to manage (10 mn).
Choose a fast usb pendrive.

If you like it, you can install it on internal flash and it will be really faster then. It's my own choice (test then install on internal flash).
CoreElec is rock stable.

Hi,

I have tried a dual boot config and I"m sorry... but I'm very disappointed... I do not see at all the 8 core performance ...it is worse than Android performance ... and the screen is looking as it as been zoomed in

What screen resolution/mode are you running for the user interface? I run mine at 4k 60Hz.

Anyway, I don't care what the screen looks like except when it's playing a video, which with my LG it looks awesome!

Guys,

I installed CE to the internal memory of my U9.

Only do this if you know how to handle USB burning tool to get the original FW back!!!!

But if you are able to do so I agree with Skynet. The performance is awsome and all plays smoothly. I had some researche to do to get the procedure in my mind but i manage to do so. If i can, more of you can.

I use the Harmony One remote and also this is working on CE now. It was also more like searching out the procedure then the procedure itself.

I am very happy with the performance overall. The audio PassThru works flawless. DTS-HD, Atmos, all is working. No stutters in playing 4K and skipping and fast forward goes like a rocket. Note that i use NFS in stead of Samba. In my opinion NFS is the fastest way to stream.

If anyone wants a helping hand. I and others are willing to help. For that this forum is about.

Can you describe to me how to do so ?
