Couple of video playback issues on U1

Hello, old and baffled man here.

Mostly just playing videos (720/1080p) from hard drive with XBMC, occasional youtube.

These days, often finding videos won't start, or seize up and show a "buffering" message. "Kill all tasks" seems to sort it out, but why does it tell me it's shut 14 or so apps...what on earth are they?

I literally only just discovered the add-ons, and tried iPlayer. Couldn't help noticing very smooth scrolling in the credits on Peaky Blinders. Why does *nothing* I play from hard drive ever look as smooth as that?

What application are you using to play the videos? If playback is 'smooth' with Kodi, it suggests other applications perhaps are not using hardware decoding.

1. It wasn't entirely clear if all videos are played through Kodi, in which case ffmpeg handles playback, or whether through another application.
2. Which specific version of Kodi has been compiled for Minix devices?

That's a 2016 build with poor support for bitstreaming (compared to v18 onwards) and HEVC playback.
