For a start you'd need to provide a lot more detail than "a TV streaming app" for any meaningful assistance!! There's only so much others can do to help with such little information.

Which app or service, (must be legal for discussion)?

Is your device firmware up to date for an X8-H +?

Ethernet or WiFi?

Are you using an AVR/soundbar or external audio hardware? (If yes, HDMI or SPDIF?)

Have you tested another app or service on the device & are they working OK?

Have you tried clearing the cache or data for the app in question?

What brand is your refrigerator ;)?

Hello,

Thank you for trying to help me.
My minix is on finless lolipop rom.
The streaming app is legal (mycanal app, a french tv app)
This is happening on ethernet and on wifi.
No sound bar or other external audio hardware. The sound via HDMI or analogic output: same problem.
I observed that the problem appears only on live TV but not on cath TV. I suppose they are using diferent audio codecs for live and for catch TV...
I do not have any other streaming TV app...
I also have a minix neo x7 and mycanal works good (live and catch TV) on it (wasser lolippop firmware)
I do not know my refrigerator's brand. I must ask my wife ;)!

Hmmm, if it's not too much trouble I would suggest installing the Minix Lollipop ROM first just to eliminate whether this is hardware or software related, Finless makes great ROMs but does strip them down considerably so this could be the culprit.

Why not, but I am using this firmware with this TV app for almost one year with no problem... This is why I thought
that changing the firmware will not solve the problem.
But if no one has any other idea I will do this as a last chance
Thank's

If you've been using the app in question with your current firmware on the X8-H Plus for the best part of a year without any previous problems....

....Then my question would be what has been changed recently for it to suddenly stop working?

Has the app updated via the Play Store causing this new problem? (Even Chrome updating has been known to affect other streaming apps.)

Have you changed something, anything on the device?

Has something changed externally such as your ISP etc.?

You still didn't answer my original question. Have you tried clearing the app cache or data, or the system cache?

Refrigerator lol? ;) :)

Hello guys,

Yes you are right, I did not answer at your original question: I did cleared data and cache. And nothing changed.
My newbie conviction is that they changed the audio codecs of the live video stream, codec that bugs on my minix. That's why before everything was ok because the previous audio codec was "compatible" with those installed on my minix...

Is there a way for installing ec3 aml codec?

Any way: thank you for your help

PS my wife said : our refrigerator's brand is "ARCTIC";):)

Haha. Of course your fridge is "Arctic" lol ;).

Ultimately, your best bet at this stage is to consider @Marty 's original suggestion based on this new info. The original/stock firmware may still have the missing audio codecs the app needs. (Which is more important to you, the app or the current firmware?)

Otherwise, @Marty, @gufone , @KAR , @MooseJaw , is there a reasonably simple way for a user to install a missing audio codec to certain Android ROMs as asked by the OP?

I have compared the two ROMs and it would make no difference, both media_codecs.xml are identical so there is no point in flashing the Minix firmware. I will dig a little deeper and try find out why the AML.google.ec3.decoder cannot be initialised.

In the mean time can you confirm above from @MooseJaw as this would be ideal.
Do you have the ability to set a different external video player within the app?

Hello,
I have temporarily solved the case :)
First of all thank you all!
Now the answer to MooseJaw: no I do not have the posibility to set a different player. That was my first idea when I got this bug.
I finally find the solution into the app: there was a hiden menu to discover (like the hiden menu for developers on android: click 5 times on the version number etc) and there I could force stereo audio wich uses a different codec (AAC)! This one works OK. Now I can see my favorite series and films - but no more 5.1 audio :(
So if someone sometime find the solution to enable eac3 codec on our monox I will be very glad (there are some beers on my ARCTIC fridge for the guy who will find it!)
Meanwhile, take care of you

How does it matter if the stream is in stereo output only vs 5.1 if you're just using your TV's built in speakers lol ;(?

Wahoo! Nothing escape to ArticWolf's eyes!
You are wright. But imagine that: I bought a audio system for my home video just a week before the eac3 pb! I do not received I yet because of the
containment here in France. Since the parcel already left the depot I cannot cancel anymore. So if someone, sometine find the real solution etc...

LOL. Fair one :).

What did you purchase? Anything funky? If it's half decent it'll either have Dolby upmixing, DTS Neural:X upmixing, or both built in which will allow you to up-mix 2.0 AAC to 5.1 with pretty good results :).

Ergo, it may not all be 100% doom & gloom from the changes to the actual audio source just yet. WOOP ;).
