Disable Built-In IR?

I have seen this topic mentioned here. But thought I would post in a more visible location...

I just discovered that the IR remote for my TV (a Vizio 40 inch) seems to send at least some commands known to my new Minix U22. So I am looking for a means (using root is fine) to disable the built-in IR. I can cover the IR receiver with black electrician's tape and stop the nonsense. But I would prefer to do it via software so I can automate the process using Tasker.

Thanks for any tips/suggestions.

Not a software solution but a hardware solution. You could avoid IR all together with the A2 or A3 remotes, which use RF instead of IR.

FYI, I have the same issue with my TCL 4 and 6 series TVs.

Software solution - I'm not positive, but you could take a look at the remote.conf file in system\etc\

Thanks. I was thinking about trying to turn off the IR device at the kernel level. I have done similar things to turn the charging port on/off on my phone to keep the battery with 40-80% for better battery life. I think this might be a device known as aml_keyboard. I have found some info about it on the U22 at /sys/class/input/input1/ but I am not seeing a file that appears to permit me to enable/disable yet. For the time being, black tape is my answer. Thankfully I have no history of using any of the remotes included with the 3 TV boxes I own. But tape just seems inelegant :) Cheers
