I'm not sure if the TV variant will work, but I would try it first as it will work with a dpad if it does. Unzip the files and perform the steps I mentioned previously.

I appreciate your help!!! I'm slowly trying to figure this out... i'm not techy by any means... just trying to get this figured out for my 2 small children. I'm definitely determined! =)

It should work. I got it working on 3 devices that were deemed incompatible. The NEO T5, Xiaomi Pocophone and Xiaomi A2. All work using this method.

If you're asking about the custom ROM I made, then it's up to you. Official 5.1 is rock solid. That said, as apps stop supporting lollipop, it will be worth upgrading to get extra life out of your box. In all honesty, I can't imagine most apps will support lollipop for much longer, but I'm no fortune teller.

If the apps you like to use still support lollipop, it may be best to stay on that.
 
I have tried to download the apk files on my pc, but when you double click on them, nothing happens. The files are base.apk, config.xhdpi.apk & config.en.apk.
I have downloaded & installed the Split APK installer on my minix box. When i run the program it does not allow me to select files from a usb drive, just the box. What am i doing wrong??
 
I just joined the Forum to say these instructions worked perfectly for me the first time on my old U1. Only pause was having to select 'Default' in the box type dialog for generating the download links. Thanks for this ...

Bad news, it's not available via the playstore for some reason and straight sideloading it doesn't work. It just doesn't install.

Good news, I got it installed on the T5 and it's working fine, but the process is a little more tricky. It does work though. It may work the U1 as well.

Go to https://apk.support/download-app/com.disney.disneyplus

Set device to TV, android to 9.0 and click generate download link.
Download the three apks that were generated
(base and two config apks).
Note: You will most likely need to change the settings for the U1. Set device to Tablet, android to 5.1 and click generate download link.

Now download SAI (Split Apk Installer) and install it.

Open SAI, select install APKs and select the three apks you downloaded (base and two config apks).

Hello.. the load of the apk's worked on my U!. I have 2 U1's and one has an issue with Disney Plus - spinning circle for ever so will not play. Other U1 seems to be fine. I can download and scroll the menu no problem. I have tried wifi and cat5. All otherapps work fine - Netflix, Bribox..etc.. I am running 511 on both. Any ideas? I have re-installed apk's a couple of times to no avail.
 
Clear cache / data, then uninstall the apks using SAI.
Clear system cache (settings/storage/internal storage).
Reboot the box
Try installing the 3 apks again.
 
no joy. However I jst noticed i have an older firmeware on the U1 thatis having issues, It has 20151210 where ny other has 20161201. I will try and update the firmware to the latest FW013 and try again.
